“good enough to have a good sleep =)”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

-Location:
the location is really only 5-10 minutes by walk from the Junker street. it's easy to walk to the tourist area but also quite in the night for you to get a good sleep =_

- Room:
We stayed in a triple room with a single bed and a double bed. We also have the shower room. The room is big enough for 3 people stay. It's not new, but it's clean and comfortable enough for you to have a good sleep.

-Service:
The old lady in frontdesk is friendly and willing to tell you about the traveling information
They offer free wi-fi access, but the signal is quite weak upstairs, it's better in the lobby only.

Room Tip: Choose the room with private shower room.

Our family trip to Melaka last Easter weekend 2013 was so unplanned hence, it goes without saying we didn't have any hotel reservation (which is not recommended, I know). After several minutes of walking along narrow and congested Jonker and Hereen Street, under the scorching heat of Malaysian sun, I found accomodation to most hotels too steep for our limited budget over a Malaysian school holiday weekend. I luckily brought my feet to Kota Lodge after leaving my wife and son shortly inside one of the lobbies of hotels we first visited.

May, the very friendly lady-owner whom I chanced upon at the counter offered a single room with 3 solo beds for a very affordable RM62 per night. Despite the room, unlike the others Kota Lodge has, doesn't have its own toilet and bath (we used the common toilet and bath at the second floor), we had no qualms, even our 8 year-old son, and were even thankful we still found a room where we stayed for 2 nights.

Service was efficient, they even offered to call and reserve a taxi cab for us that took us from Kota Lodge to Melaka Sentral bus station for RM20 the day we check out.

Next time we go to Melaka, I may book again Kota Lodge but better to have a room with its own toilet and shower inside. After all, who needs a grand and luxurious accomodation when all day you're exploring the city, eating and absorbing its culture and beauty?

Room Tip: Reserve a room with toilet and bath. No elevators/ lifts because it's only 2 level-inn/hotel so...

My parents and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, we got room with balcony in level two, all were good, the room, the facilities inside and especially the staff services, felt like we were at home. That was the first time for us staying at this hotel, wouldn't stay anywhere if we were in Malaka. Thanks kak Memey.....

We stayed two nights here again this year. Service staff were friendly and very helpful,it is worth mentioning ms may.She made our stay comfortable and recommended few places of interest which is worth visiting.Hotel location is near a row of old shophouse that is a heritage area, within walking distance of the Stadhuys, the A Famosa and the point for river cruise.Good thing is that there are also lots of good eatries and shoppings nearby.
I really like melaka environment(feel peace) and traditional food (Nyonya Laksa). And i will stay in again at this Hotel.
Enjoy your trip in Malacca & have a blessed trip.

This hotel has a good walking distance around the town. You can get a lot foods just around the hotel. It's just 5mins walking distance to Chinatown. But the main highlight is that the treat from staff May to us is damn unsatisfied.Me and my wife used to stay there for 4 days. The last day came and I already told her that we will check-out extra 30mins late as by 12pm we need to check-out.I don't mind paying it but she told me that if I never check-out by 12pm,she will break into my rooms. Is this a polite way to treat a customer. My wife feel so sad about this.Overall hotel facilities is fine.Is just that the treat given by staff May to us is not good at all. Thanks .

Room Tip: Rooms with balcony is good for smoking

Hotel Kota Lodge will always be my first choice whenever i visit Melaka. Not only because of its reasonable pricing, the excellent service provided by the staff especially owner, Ms May, is just overwhelming. This hotel just never fails me. Less than 5 mins walk to the famous Jonker Street and ample of parking spaces available. Been reading feedbacks such as ants and dirty rooms but am surprised that i never experienced that throughout my stays here. However, im sure the management of the hotel will do great job in tackling the problem as i've seen Ms May herself, running around fulfilling every customer's needs. In short, Ms May has never failed to add sparks to every of my Melaka visit.

Excellent value for money but book aircon room. V hot. Polite and knowlegable staff, nothing too much trouble.. Quiet location but near centre. Centre lively until well after midnight especially at weekends.
