“Wonderful Teochew food in Melaka”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

Every dish is cleared out within 10 minutes it was served. We had suckling pig, steamed promfret, pork roll, ngoh hiang, stir fry kailan, oyster mee, braised duck and yam paste. We were all full but the food are so delicious that we can't stop eating...

“Best Teo Chew Food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

Just love to come back to this place, though it's pricey, and seat limited, the old owner somehow weird :) We over ordered, but we still love the food! My personal favourite must be the fried oyster noodles which is eaten with raw minced garlic and their special sambal. yum yum... !!

“Best restaurant in Melaka”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

have read a lot of reviews but there's a few regular place that we always go to when we visit Melaka. This time, we decided to try, we were lucky to have seats with no reservations, were served by the owner - Teochew ah pek. He was delighted to learn that I'm teochew and was so happy that I can communicate with him with that. I sort of aldy read what is good from the reviews and he did intro the oyster noodles... I chose steam pomfret and a veg, plus the orh nee. He said these were enough, no need to order more. Can order later if not enough.
Every dish is so good, even the plain veg. Oyster noodles really surprised me. It really tastes so good. Pomfret was well steamed, we paid rm59 for it, very worth it compared to singapore price.
I was surprised when ah pek told me to finish up the broth from the pomfret, no msg added he said. The Orh nee was so teochew style with no thick coconut cream added. it was just so nicely done. We were so satisfied with the dinner that we booked next day's lunch, before we go back to Spore. We tried the soft shell crab, steam pork ribs with bittergourd and Ngor Hiang. All tastes good. We patronised his mangoes and Orh nee takeaways.

When I posted on my FB, some have tried before and all love the food. Happy find and will definitely go back again. If you have try this place, GO. You will not regret it.
Reservation a must for big groups.

Service - everyone is so courteous and chatty :)

“NO DINNER ON MONDAY!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Luckily my relative called before we went the restaurant. They are close on Monday.

However, it did not disappoint us when we went for lunch the following day.

Small establishment with long history. The boss was very friendly. He recommends what you should eat. If you want anything more, he will stop you from ordering.

Oyster Mee was to die for! Add vinegar just bring the flavor to the upper level! We also had the suckling pig. The skin was thin and crispy. The nor-hiang was fresh. Bitter gourd and pork rips was fantastic.

Everything in this restaurant speaks authenticity. The boss, an 80 over years old man, is the walking advertisement. His smile and laughter is very contagious. He joked: "If you did not dine at Tee Soon Loong, you have not come to Maleka!"

“Very nice and delicious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

It was my 2nd trip there. Small place right by the corner, cooking place at the front of the entrance, but don't let its look deceive you. In side, you'll be asked by an old Uncle to order your food at the front while he recommends the restaurant dishes. He's a very nice old Uncle. Once a while he comes over just to check your table and reminds you that you to not waste food. Felt stressful but kids were amused and it was kind of good cause my kids did finished everything on the plate.

You must try the Oyster Mee there. Delicious. Add some vinegar for some special taste to it.
Their meat ball was delicious also and depending on the number of people in your group, Uncle would be reminding you that you're ordering too much and would recommend you to try finish first before ordering. if you still feel hungry and want to order more, don't worry !! You'll get first priority. So don't worry about waiting.

The yam paste with Ginko-nut is a nice closing to the dinner as a desert. For those who is allergic to nuts, they even put the Ginko nuts by the side so that it's an option for those who want or not want it.

When in Melaka, try it. Go to the Jonker Walk area, find a small lane opposite the Fomosa Chicken Rice ball and you won't miss it. A bit pricy in my opinion but you just can't find such old ambience anymore in Melaka.
