“A Good Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

Positive points:
1) The airport rep at the airport to receive us was very courteous & he was the first staff who met us and created a good impression.Next the driver who drove us down to the hotel from airport was very co-operative as my daughter was vomiting.Kudos for his patience.Although i could not meet him again to thank him once again.
2) Rooms are good and spacious with all the basic amenities
3) Location is very good close to the Calangute market & beach approx 15 mins by walk
4) Food was good in the restaurant

Negative Points:
1) The impression created by the airport rep was shortlived once we reached the hotel reception. The hotel was fully sold out & hence the reception forgot to give us a warm welcome.Although they were courteous we were quite surprised & became little uncomfortable.
They did there bit by organising a welcome drink (mazaa).
As i happen to be in the travel & tourism industry myself have stayed in many good hotels in India & abroad so was expecting the reception to be informative on my check-in which is the normal practice in a good hotel.
Here i handed over the voucher & was told to proceed to the room.Once i went to the restaurant same night for dinner was told by the staff that we need to present meal coupons so had to again come back & collect the same from reception. It was not a big deal for me to collect the same from the reception but the point is the reception is the point from where the guests should be guided thoroughly.
Hotel will be sold out during season time so that does not mean that some guests can be conveniently ignored.
Second day morning i went to handover the room keys at the reception with a smile & a lady at the reception was not even smiling forget been little courteous & wishing a good morning which she did to a group of foreigners.
But there were few people whom i would like to point out is a very pleasant lady on the travel desk who answered all my queries & appreciate Mr Bhuvan at the reception with whom i interacted the most & a smiling gentleman at the reception who was available at 4.30 am on the day of my check out.
Hope this feedback of my is taken in the right spirit so that no guest feels lost especially during a sold out situation.
2) There was a group of five families with children who were anyway creating a ruckus everywhere in the hotel. My point of concern and also of some other guests was in the restaurant.
Those guys were eating while standing in the queue for meals & also with same bare hands touching the serving spoons & touching breads, rotis etc.
In such a case your restaurant staff has all the right to make them straight as the other guests like us cannot be eating the food hand touched by them ot u can put some pointers over there

We were staying at another hotel in Goa and were dissapointed on the 1st night when we found out that it was not what we expected, as we were searching for another hotel, we walked into this one nearby and the minute we entered the rooms my daughter was dancing and smiling. She has mild Autism so we we were very pleased and booked the rooms for 2 nights during the X'mas week when Goa is very expensive. The guys at the Reception were very friendly and helpful, got us nice rooms facing the swimming pool and my family was very pleased. I shall be going back to this hotel soon as my family is already pushing me to book our holiday for this December :-)

Room Tip: take a room facing the swimming pool as it is good entertainment and allows you to keep an eye on yo...

First let me tell you, Neelam the Grand (NtG) was not my choice of hotel. I was booked in another hotel thru MakemyTrip but last minute they cancelled my reservation (thats another story) and they gave me NtG as an alternative. It was an impressive looking hotel and our check -in was smooth. We wanted a Pool view room and the hotel staff really went all the way to clean a just emptied room very quickly to accommodate us. The amenities in the room were up-to-date and so was the service.

The Hotel Ambiance was wonderful. The swimming pool was clean and the poolside was a nice place to relax, chill and walk around. The evenings had live music everyday by the poolside and my wife and myself felt a great satisfaction with the entire holiday.

Coming to Food, we were booked under MAPAI plan and the breakfast was excellent. The dinner also was good with a decent spread. The Service speaks for itself when at 2.00 am we called room service and the order was served with 10-15 mins.

Among other things, the hotel is in proximity to Calungate Beach and the nearby markets. Its a lively place and even a nighttime stroll was safe. Besides, Goa has its own charm and thankfully, NtG added to it. We had a most enjoyable holiday.

Stayed here in April 2013,this is a very good hotel as compared to other hotels in the area.
The rooms are large and spacious.
Would recommend a stay in this hotel as it is clean and also Calangute beach is walking distance from the hotel.

Room Tip: Most Rooms are pool facing, the hotel was 70 % occupied when we visited hence could get a good delux...

We moved to this hotel after staying in Goa for 2 days. This hotel is a fantastic place to stay in Calangute. The rooms are very big and huge comfortable beds. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Large pool which is cleaned on a daily basis. A lot of this hotel was being refurbished while we were there to be ready for the new season and will be even better once complete. Breakfast was a good choice of Indian and Western food. Rooms cleaned daily with towels changed daily. Bedding changed every day too. 2 minute walk to the centre of Calangute and about 20 minutes to Calangute beach and 30 minute walk to Baga Beach, or a 200R taxi ride. Great places to eat in within easy walk from your hotel room. Already looking at booking again for February.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the pool, but they did show us a few others and all looks perfect
