“Small and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013 via mobile

Stayed here for two weeks. Have loved every minute. Charlie our waiter has looked after us so well, and treated us with respect. He has made our holiday. We have ate here a few times, it has been lovely. We had our fresh lobster cooked here, it was amazing. Was a little apprehensive about coming here, but seriously no need to worry. Only down side is the Russians have arrived!!!

Staff and service are excellent. Very friendly . Treat you like family. The only fault we had with this hotel is that the beds were not very comfortable but everything else overrides this. Will definitely be going back.

We stayed at horizon along with friends. Great fun with the pool and the cheap beer. For the Non vegetarians, the food is supposed to be amazing. Veggies can make do with the breads and the fruits & cereals.

The clean pool is a big bonus to laze around.

Definitely worth a stay

Just come back from Goa, after 2 weeks, had a really good time, the hotel room was a good size and clean with a fan and air conditioning. The pool and the pool area was nice and clean. The food at the hotel was really good, the chef at hotel was excellent, he would go out of his way to cook you amazing food, to your taste. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming, there were no problems. I would definitely go back to the hotel.

Stayed here last November for 2 weeks - great place!
Room was clean, a very good size and we got a pool view. Having a ceiling fan and also air conditioning in the room was a lovely break from the heat. Fridge in kitchen area which was stocked every day with water, beer etc for a very very cheap price.
Staff were lovely, could not do enough for us.
The location is great, right in the centre of Calangute, but just setback from the hustle and bustle. It is a nice quiet hotel away from beeping cars and cows! (but literally a 2 minute walk to the chaos!).
Breakfast was nice, from reading about other hotels the horizon seemed to offer a lot, breads, cereal, eggs made how you want them, fruit and another hot extra (beans, sausage etc). Day time and evening food also very good, nice range of both English and Indian food.
Would come back to the horizon - great hotel, lovely staff, definitely a country to visit!

Room Tip: Email the manager for a pool view!

I have been going to Goa on and off for 15 years and stayed in a fair few hotels. After a long search on T.A we decided on the Horizon. You will read a lot of mixed reviews, some good and some bad, so let me clear this up. Firstly the hotel staff are brilliant, they will bend over backwards to meet all your needs, and they have to because they have a very dated and tired hotel. They have loyal customers who come back again and again as you will read from the reviews. Sadly the rooms are very dated, like some thing out of the 70s. If you just want a bed to sleep(i will come back to sleeping in a minute) in then that's about it. The hotel is in a excellent location, 10 minutes from the beach and a 100 rupee taxi to most of the fine restaurants in calangute, Baga, and candolim. Also for trips to Anjuna, mapusa and morjim beach. The downside to the hotel and unfortunately now the whole of Goa is the Russians. easy to spot, dress like the 80s very rude to the indians, they have no concept of noise, slamming doors, talking on there balconies all night, shouting up the stairs etc. The poor people of Goa. we were told many many stories from taxi drivers, restaurant owners, staff, beach sellers, market traders about how rude they are and how they never tip, complain about there meals to get discount, and snap there fingers to get the poor waiters attention. They just don't know how to behave as tourist. Our Hotel horizon was 25% english 75% russians and they problem is the English are mainly middle age and up, but the Russians are in there 20s, not the best of mixes. It is with a long sad and heavy heart of mine that the beautiful place of Goa and the beautiful people of Goa is having the heart and sole of the place torn out from under there feet, that I feel I may never return to this oasis of the place Goa, the place I have loved for 15 years.

Room Tip: away from the stairs if you want a bit of peace. swimming pool if you want action.
