“Horrible Experience @ their Resturant!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013

We lived in a resort behind Maggies. Someone at our resort told us to go to Maggies and enquire about a bike we could hire from them. That is how we came to interact with the guy who was managing the place at the time. It was not the owner but one of the employees who was nice to us initially till we landed up at Maggies for Breakfast one morning. We ordered the usual breakfast of omlettes and toast. When we were paying the bill I thought it was quiet steep so I asked the same guy who we had met earlier regarding the bike. Since we had been having breakfast in places around Maggies, we knew the standard rates for our breakfast. The bill was more than the normal so I asked him why we were paying so much. To my horror he was obnoxiously rude to me. He started snapping at me. My husband had to intervene for he refused to tone done his language.

Well Maggies we realized are really fooling people. Almost all or any self respecting place in Goa or many other parts of India includes two toasts with omlettes. Maggies does NOT. For two slices of bread with or without a chip of butter they charge you somewhere around 35-45 rupees. A loaf of bread coast 20-30 rupees in India. The quality of Breakfast too was not up to the mark. My husband who had pegged this place as serving good food was very upset and disappointed. Kingstork Beach Resort in the same vicinity and of a higher standard had food priced at the same level as Maggies though the quality at Kingstork was far better. They did not charge us for petty things like toasts “separately”! Recommend you to avoid Maggies restaurant. Far better places to eat in and around that area.

Basing this review on three visits to this hotel/b&b we found the perfect place to stay and unwind after 2 weeks South Goa. The location is perfect ... just a short stroll to the beach. The deluxe rooms are superb & well stocked with all facilities expected - large king size bed, hot water very clean rooms.Simon the manager & his team look after you really well and the restaurant is of good quality food. Great pool to relax around .... there are also standard rooms which are of a good quality. If you book here you will not go wrong!!! looking forward to our next stay ((-: thanks Simon for a really great holiday!

Room Tip: pool facing rooms are superb

Maggies was a nice hotel with helpful staff. The room was clean and big with balcony. The pool wasn't as big as it looks in pictures, but was good enough. The downside was that when we booked it we were told there was wifi but when we arrived there wasn't so not sure why they told there was?!? One particular member of staff was very friendly and helpful!! It was expensive too - not really worth the price in my opinion. The only shame was the location of Calangute. Not a very nice place in Goa and compared to the beaches elsewhere - it is definelty the worst! It reminded us of Costa Del Sol in Spain - for some people that might be ok but not for young travellers. If you're in North Goa - STAY AWAY FROM CALANGUTE.

This was the 3rd time we stayed here and can say that we will always choose this resort whenever we come to Goa again. All the staff was very friendly and always at our help.No request was too small or difficult for them.Simon should be very proud of his hard working staff.IWe just felt like family members there.Their hospitality exceeded our expectations.I have recommended to a lot of friends & family to visit.

Room Tip: I personally prefer rooms on the first floor.

Stayed nearly 3 weeks after checking out of a nearby hotel after 1 night! Our room was huge with a fabulous balcony although not overlooking the pool was just what we wanted. The staff could not be more helpful with the Manager or Owner always available with nothing too much trouble. The pool was great and the restaurant food ok.Easy stroll to the beach and other places to eat.In this area I would say the best place around for the money.Enjoy!
