“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2010

I visited Monterio with my husband and 6 year old kid in Nov. 2010. I have a timeshare membership with RGBC and have visited their properties in Phuket and Haathi Mahal in Goa. Compared to these two properties I can say that Monterio is very very disappointing. I had requested for an early check in and was informed that the only room available was on the 3rd floor. So my 5 year old and we had to go up and down a fleet of stairs which was very tiring. The property was extremely shoddy and absolutely neglected. Would rate cleanliness of the grounds as 2 on a scale of 5. Food quality was extremely pathetic for the price charged and we only ordered room service on 1 occasion. The good thing was that there was a convenience store in the premises, even though charged higher rates. The pool was dirty and my daughter and I saw a baby frog in it on the first day. They claim that they have recently refurbished the rooms but I guess those rooms were kept for their foreign guests. The entertainment programs organized by the resort were average at best.
To make things worse the resort water pump got spoilt during our stay and there was no water from morning to night for one whole day. :(
Another annoying factor is that there is no privacy at the resort since their marketing team organizes meetings for innocent visitors to Goa (by enticing them with a free holiday offer) and shows them around the resort throughout the day.
All in all this resort is definitely avoidable if you are planning a trip to Goa from a leisure and fun perspective.

Nice and cozy apartment style hotel, all 1 and 2 bedrooms comes with your own fully functional kitchen with necessary utensils provided for.
Good and efficient room service for you to order.

Nearest beach is approx 1.5/2 km away. The resort is on a quite street and little away from from hustle bustle of Baga/calangute.

Only down side is the hotel is on a hilly terain and not recomended for elderly or handicapped people.

This hotel has a large property, and is located in the north of Goa, by the river Arpora. Baga beach is about 15 minutes on foot. It has a good restaurant which serves good continental dishes. Staff is polite and prompt. Impeccable cleanliness and tidiness is maintained.
It has two swimming pools, bar, gym, games room and arrangement for entertainment.
Only flipside – it won’t be recommended for physically challenged persons, since it actually is located on a hillside. Although parking is right inside the property, still people have to move around within the property at many levels including steep slopes.

Well so I was off to Goa the first trip of my life with my friends. One of my friends had a membership in the royal goan beach club so we opted for that resort for our stay. Well I had no clue that this was going to be one of he best trip of my life.

The rooms in the resort were spacious and well ventilated. The restraunt served allmost any cuisine in reasonable prices, and the staff was also very helpful. Yes there were one or two minor glitches from the staff but they were forthcoming and acknowledged their mistakes when we mentioned them. Well the trip turned out to be one that I woul not forget in my lifetime.

What can I say, from the moment we arrived the dissapointmant was palpable. The resort was dirty and there was a pungent scent of sewage upon arrival. The limit of the receptionists input was that we had to pay a "luxury tax" for each day we remained at the resort. Only after arriving at our room did i fully appreciate the irony behind that tax. The room was functional but in desperate need of a good clean and some renovating and possibly some fumigation! we went in search of anti mosquito creams at the resort shop only to find it closed in defiance of its own clearly defined opening times. After some argueing at reception we got the supplies we needed. The restaurant was not bad, a little dirtier than i would have liked but with polite staff. After dinner we turned in for the night only to find that to our horror, we had several companions in our bed. On closer inspection i found we had a flea infestation. Reception were notified but next to useless, only after stern words to the staff were we given another room. Guess what? More fleas!!!!! At this point we decided to cut our losses and arrange flights home. We met the owner the next day whose only defence was " well, it is monsoon season." Overall a very dissapointing hotel with poor hygiene, poor service and poor management. Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!!!!

We were three families travelling together. . each family had a two bedroom unit .
though very spacious its in great and urgent need of a upgrade.
the reception staff was nice and friendly but the other staff was just grumpy and rude.
In all other resorts the staff are so friendly and wish you and greet you but here they only snarl. they never stop to let you pass on the stairways,.they hang about the resort doing nothing.
the exterior and the resort grounds are very dirty. the pool has a stench of sewage in it. only one pool was working as the other was under rennovation.
the areas between the resort buildings are filthy. the housekeeping staffs uniforms are filthy.
the bathrooms are quite sad! the shower has no force the whole bathroom gets wet when you have a shower. we had a leaky faucet in one of the bathrooms , so it was perpetually wet and dirty,
besides the spacious accomodation for a family of four there is really nothing 5 star about this resort i would rate it 2 star.

We have been travelling to Goa for the last 15 years now, and every year means minimum 2 trips to Goa. We means our group of freinds 12-16 in number. This number has only increased as we have moved from being single boys to married men with children. For the last 10 years i cannot remember putting up anywhere except RGBC Monterio Arpora Goa for 1 full week in prime time season i.e Dec - Jan We love this place not only because it feels like home, also because of its proximity to the beach. Baga is 2 minutes ride on the bike, Anjuna Vagator is 15 minutes ride. The rooms are very spacious what with a living room thrown in as well, the kitchen is very well equipped ( if you do get the urge to cook etc. ) and it makes a great place to stay especially since it can accomadate an entire family of four comfortably ( you can also accomadate a maid for the children ). Its just the right place for us laid back and totally chilled and anyways thats what we go to Goa for TO DO NOTHING. The 2 bed apartment is very good as well and has privacy for 2 couples the only problem here is that only one bedroom has a private bath and the other one is common. The restuarant POCO LOCO serves good food and the ambience is good as well, it feels like a quaint open restuarant and they throw in some live music as well sometimes. The Pool is medium sized strictly for liesure. They have one more pool which has a sunk in bar, yes they seem to have everything and its the best value for money that you will ever get in Goa. Its 5 star comfort at the price of 2 Star.
