“Excellent little place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2013 via mobile

We found The Empire Beach by accident, trapsing round Calangute trying to find somewhere to stay after the first place we had booked blind proved to be terrible (see previous review). This is a great little hotel, peaceful and out of the way, pretty family-orientated. It has a wonderful swimming pool, the rooms are clean and cool. It has access to a stretch of beach which is almost private by Goa's standards. The food in the restaurant was good (try the king prawn spring roll). The staff, and particularly the manageress, were friendly and helpful. When my partner had a bad bout of toothache which made her face swell, the manageress arranged for a doctor's visit even though it was Sunday. We rated this place highly, it was one of the best we stayed in on our trip across India. Don't think I'd go back to Goa but I'd definitely stay here again if I did

We arrived in Goa, a group of 5 friends, tired and frustrated after we found out that our booking at another hotel had been refused at the last moment. Having stayed at Empire Beach Resort a few years ago and having had a great time then, we decided to give it a shot. We turned up at the hotel, and after speaking with the lady who runs it and her son, we were given rooms. In a nutshell, the hotel is great value for money; clean; safe; and right on the beach. And to add a touch of humour, there are hilarious statues of local Goan men and women, camels, turtles, and other random animals scattered about the property.

Rooms:
The rooms were clean, spacious, and pool/beach facing. The price was perfect for our budgets, and the fact that the hotel is located right on Calungute beach saved us the transportation cost of having to travel to the beach. The rooms are cleaned upon request, and have basic furnishings. Our rooms had small balconies outside from which we could see the pool and the beach, and which were wonderful places to sit in the evening and have a drink. The bathroom is also basic, but clean and well-maintained with hot water. There are several nicer rooms available as well, which are probably at the higher end of the price range. The rooms also had air-conditioning.

Location:
The hotel is right on the busy and bustling Calungute beach. There are several shacks right next door on the beach, which are all very affordable and offer meals, snacks, cocktails, and sheesha. We spent our days at these shacks. The hotel is also just a 20-30 minute walk along the beach to Baga and Anjuna, perfect for an evening stroll. For those looking for quieter beaches, you will have to rent a car or bikes to venture to the slightly more secluded spots. But for those looking for a popular beach close to bars, clubs and restaurants, but still not as crazy at Baga, then this is the perfect spot for you.

Restaurant:
The hotel also has a cute little restaurant which overlooks the property and the beach. The food is good and similar to what is served at the shacks outside (and also priced similarly).

Service:
The staff is friendly and helpful. The owner and her son are responsive over email (for bookings) and happy to accommodate changes in your plans. Most importantly, the staff leave you alone.

Room Tip: Try and get rooms that face the pool and the beach, since those have small balconies where you can e...

I stayed in this place from 7th March 2013 for 2 nights. The hotel is operated by Parsi family who is very cordial and helpful.. Excellent location...the backyard of the hotel opens on the Calangute beach area which is not very crowded...and has many shacks which one can enjoy during any part of the day...a clean and maintained swimming pool...the restaurant of the hotel serves good food...not very expensive....and overlooks the beach... No wonder this hotel was fuuly booked from Oct-Dec'13 when I enquired during my stay...Lets understand this is a 3 star hotel...rooms do not have best interiors but for the price they charge it is best deal...rooms A/cs were working well in the March heat...

This is among very few hotels who allow Indians...I searched for many decent hotels in the vicinity which said know to us...to my shocking surprise..

Room Tip: Take the beach facing rooms with balconies...or rooms facing the pool which also gives view of the b...

Had gone on 19th feb. the owners of the place are very rude and mannerless.the maids der ask u to switch off lights of ur room again n again . The bedsheets wer dirty and unironed.no exhaust in d bathrooms makes it stinky . Its very far from the main road and very narrow lanes to get to the hotel makes it unviable unless u have hired a 2 wheeler. The food there is overpriced . The owners respect only foreigners and think of indians as untouchables. Horrible place. NEVER stay here.

Ask for a room with seaview, and add aircondition, and a refrigiator. We did so and we had 2 nice weeks, in a super hotel with a breath taking view to the beach from the restaurant and from our room. The staff was very friendly, and did their best to make you feel welcome. Quality of the food in the restaurant was more than nice.

Room Tip: Ask for seaview, and 1' floor

Perfect locations to stay and very nice staff and very helpful and they helped us on 6Feb 2013, when we had no room.... and its just like family to stay at that place. This place is right on the beach and direct access . Food is also very good and it's always eating near the beach.
