“Good to try”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2008

I had got a promotional offer for a week stay on this property. Paid Rs 7000/- for a 2 bedroom apartment and was satisfied for the price I paid.

However as their own agents confessed, this is their second grade property used for promotional purpose only. So for this price, it can be considered good. I may not be remembering many positives but I still say that it was a good property.

+ve
- Good ambiance, aesthetically designed.
- Ideal for a very relaxing holiday.
- The housekeeping staff was good.

-ve
- Strongest point is that they do not change the linen daily. I think they changed once in 3 days or so. If you do not carry your own towels and sheets it may not be hygienic.
- Location is such that you may be far from any activity of the city.
- They have two similar sounding properties and it takes them 20 min to figure out the one in which you are reserved.
- The beach is a little farther than I normally like.

Though we went to Royal Palms in April 2008, the memories are still fresh. The beach is just a morning walk away, around 1 km. Magnificient beach - Benaulim is the name. You go anytime during the day, the beach is not crowded - gives you your space. You can enjoy the food in the shacks and go for dolphin chase etc from the beach. The hotel has activities through out the day and specially evenings. The market outside is small and you can carry good stuff home and you can hire two-wheelers / bicycle / cars just outside the hotel to see places around.

Hotel service is good however had a problem in the end when I had to pick our stuff from the room to the car on my way back home - guess the hotel was not happy that we are leaving the premises and they didnot offer us that service.

All in all an amazing experience. Adding a picture of Benaulim beach for your reference.

This was a great resort, about 1 km from the beach. Staff were good and friendly, but food was not upto the mark. There were a number of restaurants outside which served great food. Rooms were good, and kitchens were clean with all the necessary equipments.

Having read some of the reviews we were slightly concernedbefore our arrival, our fears were totally unfounded, the staff were superb the slightest problem being attended to immediately ,the apartments were cleaned everyday and by the way they are of a perfectly reasonable standard ,if not 5 star. The gardens and public areas are beautifully maintained and the pool is very clean although the sunloungers aren"t great. The restaurant next door we found to be spotless and the food and service were fine ,it is also air conditioned ,we did hear of slow service one morning ,which they rectified by changing to a breakfast buffet the next day.The reception area is spotless and the staff immaculate being very helpful without being subservient ,so all in all very high marks to Tiaz and his team.

PS. As we were leaving the sunloungers were being loaded on to the back of a lorry .

We too booked this resort thru Club La Costa and were a bit dubious after reading reviews.
However, contacted resort direct to confirm that some refurbishments were being carried out. Stephen confirmed this ,so we took a chance - so glad we did!
We had spent the previous 11 days travelling around "the Golden Triangle" and had stayed in various accommadation.
I agree that the rooms are fairly basic here but we were lucky enough to have one of the refurbished ones. Yes, a plug was missing from the kitchen sink, but we had found this in some of the other places we had stayed. Just asked reception and was given one. We did have hot water in the bathroom, but not the kitchen! Just filled a saucepan from the bathroom. We were also in a ground floor appartment in one of the low rise blocks so carrying water was not a problem.
Like many resorts the position of the accommadation can either "make or break" the holiday. There are appartments that overlook the road, and some that are in higher blocks. I did say to my husband that I was glad we were not on one of these. The balconies are tiny - ours only had enough room for two plastic chairs.
I agree the restaurant needs organising, we only ate there once during the day. However, there are lots of other places to eat. We mainly ate in the beach shacks.
Overall, we found this a nice place to wind down and relax after all our travels. If you are looking for 4/5* luxury, then this isn't for you. Would we stay here again - yes, but I would request a particular appartment.

  • Liked — everyone friendly, easy walking distance to beach. Felt really comfortable and at ease.

Just returned from 2weeks holiday at Royal Palms. Booked holiday with RCI through Club la Costa with whom we have a trial membership. Was totaly dissapointed with the cleanliness of the rooms, requested bathroom to be cleaned as toilet was soiled and walls and paintwork dirty. The rest of the place was surface clean no attention paid to detail. The grounds were well maintained, seemed more staff employed to achive this than clean rooms. Management claimed all rooms were of the same standard and promised we could look at another room at end of first week, but when we requested this no-one could remember discussing it. This hotel is featured in Club la Costa's Destination brochure which is supposed to guarantee the standard of accomodation and is also used by RCI, it makes one wonder what happens to the maintenance money paid in by members. My advice is book elsewhere.

once exams got over, we had the idea of going for a tour.we had initially thought of staying at colva residency when a times share agent belonging to royal resortd called us up through some club.

as per his offer, we got a room for 4 persons (1 bedroom, kitchen, dining and an expandable sofa which could accomodate 2) for 3 nights at just rs 2000!
that was an awesome price for a 3star.

though many negative reviewsconfused us.......we decided to go ahead

beleive me...its worth it.its much neater than expected for the above price.
the place seems to have undergone massive renovation.
service was not bad.

the one negative things are absence of elevators and watercoolers on the ground floor

old people find it difficult to climb 3 floors down to fill a bottle of water

the restaurant is expensive and not worth it

the best way to enjoy your holiday at this place would be to hire 2 wheelers available opposite the hotel for very low rent and go to benaulim beach which is a mile away
