“Laguna Anjuna; the tranquil haven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

My wife and I recently stayed at Laguna Anjuna for our 2-week honeymoon. We had an amazing time and fell in love with the charm of this place. The staff were excellent, and we made a few good friends among them. Thankyou Laguna Anjuna. See you again soon!!!

We went to laguna anjuna in august. It is a lovely place, very nice cottages, very big rooms. The monsoons had made the rooms a bit damp but coupled with the greenery all round it was great. We specially enjoyed the swimming pool which is beautifully maintained and clean. The staff are very helpful and courteous. The location is central with lots of beaches close by. We had driven down so going around was not an issue. The old world atmosphere is maintained very well. All in all, a complete package for the family. We would love to come back again. The only point I would like to say is that the sign boards leading to the resort should be more prominent. It is quite an effort to find out where it is, google maps notwithstanding.

Room Tip: Aug-Sep is the best time. We stayed in room M and it was quite good.

We stayed for 2 nights and the Resort could be very nice as the rooms and the public areas where thought out very well but the maintenance is a disaster
The pool needs Repairs even though the water was very good quality .The lounge area could be very nice but looks like it has seen much better days and now looks like a youth hostel lounge
Reception smells and again has a feeling of a youth hostel even though the building is very well designed
The rooms could be excellent as again very well designed but the maintenance ZERO
Air conditioning not working and impossible to repair as they are far too old [cover falling apart] fan regulators only on and off as they are broken
Bathrooms walls in a bad condition good quality taps and showers
The staff on the whole kind but the owner please spend some more money on Maintenance so your hotel has better reviews

My feelings as a hotelier my self ,is the owner created a lovely place but the enthusiasm has gone. To keep a good standard you must invest on keeping a place fresh new or sell up and give it to someone who will invest in such a lovely place

Yes, as an older property built in Goas country house style and with the rains well into October this year we admittedly were caught flat footed and do have our maintenance work cut out. We are finishing this as soon as possible. However I assure you my enthusiasm is as high as when I built this place, and have no intention of selling out/ making management-maintenance contracts as brought up by yourself with my staff, either with you or anyone else. Wish you a good year with your own hotel in Pondicherry.

Brilliant stay in the 2 cottage suite at Anjuna Laguna!!
The entire atmosphere of the place is old world and charming with all the stone structures, eco friendly hanging pots, swimming pool surrounded by garden.. I can just go on and on and on!!! And all at such a great price! Thanks & Cheeers!!
The proprieters of the place were friendly co-operative and helped us out with locations and places of stay in Goa by offering advice! :)

Room Tip: Cottage A - the 2 suite cottage we stayed in was very spacious and private :)

This was the 1st place we stayed in Goa. We enjoyed our stay here but not the bed we stayed in. All the staff are lovely very friendly and good at their jobs. If it had not been for the really good bar and restaurant here we may not have liked our stay here. The food in the restaurant is really great such a big menu to choose from and reasonably priced.

Our room was nice there was air conditioning and 2 fans in it which given the humidity they did a great job at keeping us cool. We did not use the internet so I cannot comment on that. The bathroom was spotless with a really lovely shower.

The main problem with this place is the bed we had was a little grubby; there was stains and marks on the bed sheets we decided to just sleep on top as we did not fancy pulling them back to see what was under the,. The mosquito net was old with holes in it which were more than big enough to let mosquitoes and other insects in so we had to put band aids on them to cover them up.

We used the pool only once. It was nice and clean but the insects gather there in the early part of the day but this can not be helped. It is about a 10 minute walk to the beach from there or you can hire a scooter. There are lots of scooters buzzing around the roads there so it makes it a little difficult to walk around.

We moved further north for the rest of our stay in Goa and we were told that is the norm for places in Anjuna and with this in mind if I was heading back to Goa I might think about staying at another beach as there are so many to choose from.

I would like to say even if you are not staying here it is worth a visit to eat in the resturant and meet the really lovely staff.

1. Rooms were dark & dingy with no light except when the sun was out.
2. We did not have anyone to guide us to the reception when we arrived at 9:30PM on the night of 23rd October '12. We had to lug our own luggage, ask guests around the property to lead us to the reception.
3. The mosquito net in the cottages was not made of net but was made of 'malmal cloth', which was torn at various places & had horrible stains on it. What is the point of having a mosquito repellent cover with holes in it.
4. The hotel people did not know that the Anjuna flea market on Wednesdays was operational and they advised us against it.
5. We were promised 4 food vouchers of Rs.500 each when we reached the property but we did not get any vouchers. When we reached there we were told that the deal is that we have to attend a one and a half hour presentation on a new time share concept by some new company called Club Azure and only then will we get the vouchers.
6. Breakfast was horribly presented. Juice was served in a leaking jug, tea/coffee cups were either broken or dirty, cutlery was always in short supply, if you got the poori there was no bhaji and if you got the bhaji there was no poori.
7. When you ordered a meal, the food came first and you had to then fend for yourselves for plates and cutlery.
8. The beach was not 400 meters away but it was 1.5 kms away.
9. The base of the swimming pool was unpainted & gave the look of fungus so it was not inviting enough to swim.
10. We ordered this stay through Crazeal.com and went purely by what they had written about the resort and it was such a let down.

The only good part of the property is that it is in the midst of greens.

Sorry it was not to your liking. We have had a spate of bad reviews all from guests who booked through a particular promo company. The way we have put up the hotel on our own home page and in which we also request those representing us is as follows:
"Laguna Anjuna offers Space and Grace in Goan Portuguese country house style in rural, one time hippy, free spirited Goa. Our USPs- 2 bedroom cottages with living room and attached bathrooms, comfortable and ideal for families and friends traveling together. We are in the midst of a beautiful, lush tropical setting-insects, small animals and all! The colourful Indian fabrics we use have vegetable dyes which can run and look "stained"-People who prefer the ceramic kind of five star or “boutique hotel” may be better off making another choice."
