Unfortunately the biggest disadvantage of the hotel is the location. Far away from any beach or any social life you definitely will need a Taxi or a motor scooter to escape this place. A scooter can be rent but is a bit dangerous to drive in busy Goa so we didn’t take this option as we had seen some minor accidents some days before. The taxi option was more comfortable but also expensive dependent on how often you are going out. …walking is of course possible, then you will find yourself on a plain road made only for vehicles… don’t expect scooters, cars and trucks to care for your safety there.
Coming to the good things of the hotel. You will find a very new and nice building complex decorated with lots of flowers and maintained very well. Eye catcher is of course the wonderful big refreshing pool. It was perfectly clean and during your stay free towels and sun chairs are provided for your convenience. During daytime the hotel seemed quite deserted and was lacking atmosphere. The owner told us that the hotel was fully booked but we never saw more than 2 people around. Staff was friendly and helpful but left the place after 22.00
Our booked standard rooms were quite good and clean with a great looking bathroom. Rooms size was ok, but for us not important as we wanted to see Goa. Beds were excellent and TV and fridge were working without problems. Wifi is for free but not always available in every corner. Unfortunately breakfast is not included in the price but can be ordered at the hotel restaurant located close to the pool. Of course food was more expensive than in the center of Calangute / Candolim but they serve awesome sandwiches and escaping the hotel might be difficult and time consuming (see above)
All in all we had a good time at the Hacienda as we used it mainly just for sleeping but we wouldn’t book again as we felt too much trapped in the middle of nowhere. For people who want to escape busy India it might be exactly for what they are looking for
