As soon as you arrive at La Oasis there is an overwhelming smell of sewage. Absolutely not suitable for anyone with a mobility problem, the door is up three flights of stairs from the street then the lift/ elevator is only reached by climbing a short flight again.
No bottled water in the room, one shampoo for two people, two tiny bits of soap that smelled like carbolic and stained grey, once white towels in the bathroom. The toilet definitely had not been cleaned before our arrival. The electrics were dodgy to say the least. Our ceiling fan didn't reach the actual ceiling. One of the heated trays in the dining room was connected without a plug, ie the two bare wires were stuck in the socket.
The sheets didn't fit the bed, which meant we woke in the night to find our bodies touching the mattress.
No free internet access in the lobby (it's sister hotel has), and really really stingy with the toilet paper.
The safe only locks with a key, the combination part not working which is not really secure at all, and worse than that, the patio doors to the balcony don't lock at all!
There is an all day drinks package for 650 rupees, drink as much as you want. No one seemed to be taking advantage of this, and not swimming in the pool. I don't blame them.
On checking out, our electricity was cut off at 10.30 (check out 11), we had a phone call at 10.20 asking us when we were leaving, and at 10.40 the cleaner came into the room and started cleaning. For two quiet middle aged women it was a bit of overkill. We actually left it cleaner than we got it!
Not as cheap as it should be, not a lot around it within walking distance, definitely don't even brush your teeth with the water and I'd invest in a bottle of bleach if you want to feel clean.
We just moved to the doubletree. It's so clean and comfortable :)
All in all, nasty.
