True, the hotel needs some upgrades but the man says that it's going to happen ;-)
Personally I care most about a good bed, a clean room and guest who know how to behave (no hallway parties and smashing door all night long). And a small breakfast is appreciated as well.
Let's start with the breakfast. Finally they stopped with this stupid "Breakfast" voucher system. That was a prime example of a manager not knowing what he/she is doing. And the breakfast was never anything fancy that would justify an extra charge.However, it's just fair to say that I've been in more expensive hotels charging almost 10 USD for such a breakfast and there're also many hotels in this price category which do offer only continental breakfast. This hotel here has some hot buffet and it's ok for some days. I start loosing my appetite after a week.
The staff is super friendly. Especially the funny lady in the breakfast room. And Quincy from the Front Desk is the most professional front desk guy I ever met. He's on top of everything no matter what the problem or question is. All otherstaff member might forgive me if I don't mention them.
The location works good for me. But you should better have a car. There's not much around, the Mexican place across the street is apparently closed and every other decent restaurant is further away. Never tried the hotel restaurant but I would guess that they do more the typical bar food which I don't like.
The hotel rooms are ok. The bed is great, a big Flatscreen TV (which I rarely turn on) and it's clean and in working condition. The accounced updates will be only good for the hotel. I think the furniture is not that bad but new, quiter and automatic A/C's would be nice. And please get rid of that ugly green carpet ;-)
If you have to sleep during the day, you might want to get a room facing south or east. On the west...
