The hotel needs a little TLC as it is becoming dated, but it was clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is great - the park across the street is a great place for afternoon walks. There is a Starbucks inside the lobby which was very convenient.

The hotel is old but the staff makes up for it!!!!! I am a priority club member, I recommend becoming a member, you will get access to the concierge floor (4th) with free appetizers, cocktails and breakfast. When you go to the restaurant make sure to ask for China to be your server she is the GREATEST!!!!!!!!!

We stayed over on a Friday night. The staff was great- friendly and helpful. Even Housekeeping was prompt when we called for linens. Dinner in the hotel restuarant was great, and KIDS EAT FREE. The room was nice and clean. The door into the hall way didn't quite keep the passing noise out, and the bathroom outlets would hold plug-ins. Otherwise it was a nice stay. It is within walking distance of all the downtown venues and restaurants, and Big Spring Park. And they have a Starbuck's! :)

We requested on early check-in and arrived at 1:00 PM. The lobby was packed with people waiting. They weren't allowing anyone to check in before 3:00. We lined up at 2:45 and were about the 8th people in line. It was 3:50 before we got in despite 3 people working at the desk. They said it was from antiquated systems - they weren't down, just slow. As in 15 minutes to check in every room. Top that off with a bad attitude and the stay did not start off well. The rooms were what I expect at a Holiday Inn - 2 star quality. The room had hard mattress, little outdated, and very basic amenities.

Here's what put me over the edge. I called the front desk for extra towels at 8:00 PM and was told they were all in the housekeeping closet and they wouldn't be available until 8:00 AM...12 hours later. We were supposed to get free breakfast, and the lady at the front desk wouldn't give me a voucher because she was convinced she gave me one the night before.

It sounds like the hotel had never been busy before. They were completely unprepared to be booked despite being across the street from a conference center. I would NEVER stay here again. I would rather drive and find parking than deal with that level of incompetence.
