I've been to Shea's twice. The first time, my wife and I had the place mostly to ourselves. I liked the decor and atmosphere - it is a very nice place and the food was fine. However, the second time was 180 degrees off. It seems that the kitchen and wait staff are incapable of functioning if there are more than 10 customers in the place. My wife and I went there yesterday for breakfast - unfortunately so did a bunch of joggers promoting breast cancer awareness. The service was amazingly slow and to make it worse, our food was delivered in widely spaced drops. The only item served promptly after ordering was a cocktail. 5 minutes later, my wife's coffee arrived. 10 minutes later, my coffee arrived. 15 minutes later, my wife's breakfast was served, and 15 minutes later, my breakfast finally arrived. At that point, my wife had finished hers, mine was cold, and the event had degraded from being a pleasant meal to sampling the cold plate of huevos rancheros and then leaving in disgust. While we were waiting for our food, we noted numerous other examples on nearby tables of slow service and missing orders. Also, in both our dishes (eggs benedict, huevos ranchers), the eggs had been overpoached to where the yolks were solid, a clear indication that the dishes had been prepared and allowed to sit around before serving.
Bottom line, if they've got more than a dozen customers in the joint, run like hell.
