I went to this restaurant because family and friends had raved about it. The loved the food and said it was the best Mexican restaurant in Birmingham. Well, the food was very good...after a bit of a rocky start. After ordering, we waited for quite a while for out chips and salsa to come out. After asking about it, they arrived pretty quickly. I ordered chicken tortilla soup with my meal. It arrived with the entree, so while I ate my soup, the entree grew cold. Meanwhile my wife had to send her steak back...she had ordered medium and it was rare. I finished the soup and they brought her steak back out. Instead of re-doing the whole thing, they simply put it back on the grill and ended up over cooking it (it is served sliced with salsa on top, so you can imagine the mess). I had to send my now very cold entree back, my wife asked for the steak to be taken away and replaced with pork enchiladas. My meal came back completely re-done and delicious. Her enchiladas were perfect. The manager came by to apologize and gave her the meal for free and included a free desert for us as well. So...at the end of the day, the food WAS delicious. Knowing that so many family and friends have had a great experience there, I suspect that our experience was just a fluke. It happens. I will absolutely go back when I am in Birmingham again and will update the review.
