“Two thumbs up!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

From the totally renovated, all-new rooms .... to the friendly, helpful staff ..... to the excellent, world-class restaurant ... we thoroughly enjoyed our stay .... and look forward to our next visit! This is BY FAR the nicest place in Guntersville!!

Room Tip: Lake-view rooms on the upper (second) floor are best!

On arrival was informed I had no reservation though I had just made it the day before by phone directly to hotel and had a confirm# .Don't know what happened as I stay at this location once or twice each month. New employees maybe? Regardless I did not get a room in area requested and was put in room closer to highway.Lot of traffic noise. Also killed spider found on headboard and on checking found box springs to be filthy with lint , hair, etc. Definitely needed cleaning or replacing. Hope quality improves as this is a beautiful location and though the rooms are older they are usually well maintained. Will probably give another try but if not improved will look for another place to stay. Staff is courteous and the free breakfast and dining area was great.

Room Tip: Try to get away from highway due to traffic noise. Lake side has beautiful view.

My wife and our two children wanted to have a weekend getaway, and Guntersville offers an oasis to those that live in Huntsville as we currently do. The staff at check in were nice. The room was nice, but much smaller in size than they appear in the pictures. We stayed in one of the rooms with a King Size bed, private grill and lakeview. As mentioned in other reviews the side facing the road is EXTREMELY busy and loud. The parking lot is very tight as well. We purchased a non smoking room due to our son's asthma--this is negated due to all of the smokers that sit in front of their non smoking rooms and smoke out on the walkway that you have to navigate to access your room. As night fell, the noise came up as the drunks were out, and our neighbor next to our room had a dog that liked to bark--the walls are thin as well, and the front wall of these rooms are primary glass. This offers pretty views of the lake, but very little insulation to the elements, and the noises outside on the walkway in front of your room. You get a "free" breakfast if you sign up for the Best Western rewards program--our waitress started off our breakfast service by bringing out a coke to my daughter in a glass that had lipstick still on the rim of it...needless to say we sent it back. The hot food they bring is laughable--two tiny strips of bacon--cold and bland biscuits and gravy, and rubbery eggs. Unlike other free breakfasts we've enjoyed, you also can't get extra servings.. the waitress then brought my son and I a refill of our beverage...in a decanter that was dirty and had a "lint ball" stuck to top of it. After check out, I thought this ended our experience with this hotel...until three days later the hotel charged my card an additional $200 that I am still trying to figure out what it is for. We booked this stay through Expedia, and I looked at these same reviews thinking this would be a great place. Unfortunately not---hopefully my review will help you before you make the same mistake I did. We will definitely go with the Hampton Inn next time!

Room Tip: Book a room on the lakeside--the side facing the road is very noisy and loud.

Everything from booking the event to staying were fabulous. Shonda made sure everything was in order and called a couple days before to make we knew we could get in touch with her if we needed anything. When we got there, our event was placed on the hotel sign out front for all to see we were in town. We didnt have to worry about our boats and equipment bc this facility goes the extra mile to secure that. Very help and cordial staff. Mostly, rooms were clean and comfortable. We will be back!!!

The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were all engaging, polite and helpful as were the two ladies from housekeeping we encountered in the course of their duties.
The restaurant is okay (commenting on breakfast time ONLY). The free breakfast is fairly substantial and there's a Waffle House just across the parking lot if it just doesn't fill the void.
While the building itself rather old, it has been well maintained. The room doors open to either Lake Guntersville or the parking lot, and there is a major highway within feet of the end rooms. That said, on none of the three occasions I've stayed there (one on the parking lot side, 2 on the lake - one of those being the next to the end room) I never noticed any road noise.
The lake side rooms have a wide breezeway connecting them that's sectioned off into a small patio with a table and 2 chairs. It's not private but there's some separation from your neighbors.
The only thing that I consider a "gripe" is that the bathroom doesn't have a vent fan. There's a passive vent and it gets a little steamy in there. However, a steamy bathroom is really not a huge deal as far as I'm concerned.

Room Tip: Lake side (even numbered rooms) offers a great view from any room/patio, on parking lot side (odd nu...

Our original hotel closed down over the holidays without re-opening. The Best Western went out of their way to book rooms for us under short notice. The entire staff, from their Sales Director, to their Maintenance workers, went above and beyond to make our stay excellent. The rooms are very well maintained on a daily basis. The resturant staff was a pleasure to work with in booking our banquet meals, and serving us for regular dining for the week. It will always be a pleasure to return to this hotel knowing that we will greated with the most friendly staff to assist us.

Room Tip: Water side is peaceful, and you get your own charcoal grill to use for your stay.

My husband and I have stayed at this location many of times. We LOVE the lakeside rooms. Absolutely the prettiest sunrise/sunsets you will see. The staff from the front desk to the restaurant to housekeeping were all extremely helpful and nice. The restaurant has excellent food.

Room Tip: Ask for the "Rick Nelson room"
