“Beautiful Views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

We had a one night stay confirmed. Staff was very helpful, even allowed early check-in as we were there for a wedding. The rooms are nice, we spent the extra for the bluff view of the lake (well worth the money). The lodge is beautiful and the Saturday lunch buffet was very good. Our room was clean, but decks could use "debugging" and cleaning. Unfortunately, due to car trouble we never even got to stay the night, but enjoyed a good nap midday! We hope to return one day.

Room Tip: Definitely, you want the bluff side, top floor.

Lake Guntersville is a beautiful setting, lovely site on top of Taylor Mountain with a panoramic view of the lake and mountains, but the lodge is kind of dirty, the restaurant is awful -- no one has taught the waitstaff how to do their jobs -- and it is, in general, poorly run. There was a wedding there over Labor Day weekend when we visited and no one even bothered to sweep or run the blower to get rid of dirt on the balcony whether the wedding was taking place. It's too bad. This could be a great place to go.

Room Tip: ask for a lake view.

The view was great. THe room was nice. My only complaint is the pool was too shallow, but did have the roll-into for wheel chair friendly. Why have a pool if you arent going to have a diving board? The kiddie pool was covered with wood.

Room Tip: Third floor has best view of Lake.

My family just returned home (upstate New Yor) from Guntersville State Park in Alabama.
We have have 4 children all age 9 and under.

We had a Lakeside cabin and stayed at the park from Sunday to Thursday.

Staff - excellent, friendly, available, helpful, and non-intrusive:-)

Cabin - awesome.. it was rustic and worn a bit, but very well kept for being in a wilderness type area

amenities - access to a beautiful lodge with pool, lake beach, general store, multiple boat ramps and fishing spots, awesome bike and hiking trails!! beautiful mountain top views.

I can't say enough good things about this place. When we got there I bought a Alabama fishing liscence and went to Guntervilles to the Piggly Wiggly for groceries and that was it!! no more money spent!

WARNING - do not use GPS to get there.. you will end up in the back hills somewhere like in one of those bad horror movies and believe it gets dark as hec out there. Take a road atlas or somethinglike that.. and print the directions from the parks site!!

Room Tip: cabins 426, 428, 425, 424 (0n this side) have excellent views of the lake

We spent one night here on the way to Gatlinburg. It is about 5 miles from Lake Guntersville but good roads. The lake is much larger than we thought. The lodge has been updated in the last few years and is really nice with lots of stone and wood. I believe all rooms have balconies but not sure. Ours did with relaxing view. The lodge itself had some really nice antique pieces. We had a package which I thought was good price that included room and either dinner or b'fast. We chose dinner as that was the best bang for the buck and you didn't have to drive anywhere to eat.
It would be good for family reunion or groups as it hadgolf course, fishing, nice pool and large open areas inside with seating.

Room Tip: Choose a room on 2nd or 3rd floor as the view is better the higher you are.

We stayed one night. We had a room at the top level with windows that looked out over the backside of property. It was more money, but we kept standing in the wide windows just staring at the vast view we were seeing Our room was really two rooms and had a bathroom and a half. Living room was complete with couch, frig and sink. Main bathroom had both a seperate shower and a tub and shower. Nice..The view is constantly changing as they continue to improve after such devestation from the tornados April of 2011. The food is moderate to good. It can be wonderful, but the view seems to make up for many of the mistakes food wise. We go to this place often for the beauty of the place and the peacefullness. We have seen it at different seasons and enjoy it always. The desk people have been friendly and helpful.I doubt you will be disappointed.

Room Tip: The rooms with the views are excellent, but the others are less expensive and since you will be out...
