“Visited a friend staying there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2013

A friend of mine was down on vacation and I went to visit her at the Beach Club. She was staying in the Bristol tower. The room was VERY nice, over looking the ocean. Full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a nice long balcony. The pools were very clean and they even had a kids movie on down by it. My kids really enjoyed the kiddie pool. The clubhouse had an indoor pool and gym that I could see. I would definitely recommend it to someone.

The Beach Club is a top-notch resort located in the Fort Morgan area of Gulf Shores. It is a lot quieter than Gulf Shores, which has almost turned into a "Destin - traffic jam" in the Summer.
The grounds at the Beach Club are beautiful. We ate at the Restaurant in the Club House, and the décor was beautiful. The food was well presented, and everything was very good. The Hummus appetizer was different, and exciting. We all had fish-dishes, and everyone raved. Each condo is a little different, but the one that we stayed in was very well appointed --we rented through VRBO, which probably saved us a boat-load of money!

Room Tip: Rent through VRBO instead of the Beach Club Resort itself.

We stayed at The Beach Club (in the Catalina tower) for our honeymoon last week, and we had a wonderful time. The condo we were in was a three bed, three bath luxurious condo and we were very pleased with it. We were on the sixth floor and had a lovely view to enjoy seeing great sunrises and sunsets, as well as the white sand and blue ocean. The beach was great and uncluttered. It's far enough away from the main Gulf Shores area to feel like you have some privacy, but close enough to go into town for groceries and attractions. The Beach Club has three restaurants, but one was closed for renovations, which was a bit of a disappointment. Also, their general store, where we had expected to stock up on milk, beer, and other necessities, was also closed, and we found that very annoying. The pools were nice, both indoors and outside. The bar by the pool charged too much for watered down drinks, but at least they had a bar by the pool. The only annoyances we had was our last day there -- Friday -- at mid-afternoon, some idiot came by and told us the chairs and umbrella we were using were rentals only, for $25 each. Since they were going to put them up simply two hours later, this was a joke. Also, we had used them each day all week long with nothing said, so it seemed odd. Additionally, when I tried to get into the clubhouse on Friday to go to the indoor pool, I couldn't get in and a rude staff member told me I basically wasn't good enough to get in -- even though she had let my wife in earlier. We'd also been going to that pool all week, so what's up with that? There was no place to ask questions or get information. Staff were nearly invisible. We had to do a lot of guessing. Still, it's a luxurious place with a great beach, so we hope to return sometime.

We stayed at the club during spring break, so admittedly the most expensive time to travel there. As this was our first time to the area, we didn't know what to expect. We rented through VRBO, and The Beach club was a beautiful property, with a few minor exceptions. Our pool was dirty most days we were there, however there were high winds so that made it difficult to keep clean. The hot tub at our complex also had a rotten odor most days. Also, don't plan on the tram to move you around the property, as it is small and sporadic. We enjoyed being in the Ft Morgan area, but stock up on groceries as you are a good 20 min from town. There is also only one restaurant on property, (one is being renovated) so be prepared to wait for a table. Again, it's hard to judge as this was a very busy time, but overall a nice place to stay.

We've stayed in many condo resorts over the years but we must give cudos to this condo community. We just returned and had a great week, great weather and thought the accommodations were top rated. We've usually vacationed in Destin Florida but decided to try Gulfshores. We will be back. First the beaches were beautiful. The clean up from the oil spill is not evident. So clean and white sand. Everyone on the staff was very helpful and friendly. We ate at the restaurants and they were very good. We've read that people want the pools to be heated but we found them to be fine. The drinks at the pool bar were pricey but good. We thoroughly enjoyed being away from the hustle bustle of Gulfshores, going into town only when we wanted to. Very close to the resort (about 3 miles) near the Chevron station we found a great seafood market and bought both grouper and shrimp from them on different occasions. Would recommend them over the other seafood stores in town. The week after spring break season was so quiet so if you want good rates and quiet - that's a good choice. We didn't try the gym or the spa services but heard from others that they liked it. Great job Beach Club!

Room Tip: Stay higher in the building for the better views. We never heard anything through the walls, all th...

My family of five stayed at The Beach Club (Doral Tower 210) during Easter break. Overall, the property has an extensive offering of fun amenities for both adults and kids.

I truly enjoyed the clay tennis courts and playing volleyball on the beach. My family also played shuffleboard, used the free DVD kiosk, and ate lunch at The Village Hideaway (food was good). Although the pools were very cold, I did jump in a few times to cool off in the visually clean water. The hot tub was nice, but usually overrun with kids (sometimes 10 or more in at once!) for most of the day and evening hours.

The beach was very wide and clean, with 3 volleyball nets setup for guests. Although the nets were set too low for my liking, the courts were spaced far enough apart so that stray balls didn't interfere with others' enjoyment of the beach. The wood boardwalks to/from the beach were long, but well maintained and splinter-free.

The ocean front had a nice, soft, sandy bottom for wading, but the water temp was very cold. I found it a bit strange to look out toward the horizon and see no less than a dozen oil/natural gas drilling platforms in the distance. I guess that is the price we pay for progress. On the plus side, gas prices were 20 cents per gallon cheaper than in my hometown.

The 3-bed, 3-bath condo unit (D0210) my family stayed in had great sunset views and plenty of natural light streaming in through the south and west windows/patio doors. The balcony was large and well equipped with 2 lounges, bar height dining table and 4 chairs. The kitchen was well stocked with stainless appliances, granite counters, and a nice assortment of glassware. Beds were comfortable and had plenty of pillows available. Bathrooms were small but adequate.

Gripes:
• Master bathroom needs update from older style tub to a new walk-in tiled shower
• Caulking in tub has mold & mildew (see picture)
• Master closet is small (i.e. no walk-in)
• No screen on living room sliding door to balcony
• Lock is broken on sliding door jamb (see picture)
• Sleeper sofa isn't comfortable either as a couch or a bed
• Noise from condo unit above (D310?)... dragging furniture & bouncing balls on tile floor
• Pools cold and hot tub was very crowded with kids

Hits:
• Sunset views (see pictures)
• Natural light and relaxing beach decor
• Updated kitchen counters & appliances
• Good seating arrangement in living room
• Long balcony with nice patio furniture
• Durable carpeting in bedrooms and living room
• Great selection of cable TV channels
• Free DVD rentals in clubhouse
• Free recreational activities (e.g. tennis, volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard)
• Wide and clean beach with soft sand

I recommend staying at The Beach Club in Gulf Shores if you want to take a family beach vacation that includes a great variety of activities and amenities for both adults and children to enjoy. The location is remote, which I really like (and it encourages us to cook most of our meals in the condo), and the beach is great for both walking and playing in the soft sand. Even though the weather was a bit cool (high 60s to low 70s F) during our stay, my family had a wonderful vacation, and will consider returning next year.

Room Tip: If you like plenty of natural light and sunset views, I suggest a west end unit in the Doral Tower...

We are staying here in Catalina tower, 6th floor as a honeymoon gift from a family friend. The condo is gorgeous and we couldn't be happier with it. It's comfortable, well-furnished and elegant. We love the beach views and the fact that it's a private beach without all the hustle and bustle of the main strip. Because it was so far off the beaten path, stores and restaurants are not just around the corner. We brought most of our own food to prepare ourselves, but we found that we needed a few things. We hoped that the resort store would be able to provide this, but we found out that it was closed for renovation. We also wished that there were more staff members around to ask questions about the area, the resort amenities, etc. For the first 4 days, we trekked to the beach and the numerous beautiful pools. Today; however, we found the gates locked and access to the pool area limited. My husband encountered a rude staff member who wouldn't let him through the clubhouse because he wasn't in possession of the correct owner key card. (I had it with me at the pool.) Funny, this same staff member let me pass through without presenting my key card. We also discovered that today only, for some strange reason, the lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach were "rental only" for $25 per day. Previously, we used those same chairs with nary a word about rental fees. All in all, we loved our stay here. We just wish the store had been open and the staff was friendlier.
