We reserved an "Executive Suite" at this property. The "Executive Suite" has 2-bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 2 TVs, 1 microwave, 1 refrigerator, 1 coffee-maker.
Upon check-in, everything seemed ok, but once we got to our room and opened the door on the entertainment unit to access the drawers to put away our clothes, one of the doors fell off (photo attached). We contacted the front desk and the front desk person (Mike) told us "glad you told us so we won't charge you for it - I'll make a note of it." He did not offer to have anyone repair it and it stayed broken during the entire stay.
The shampoo and body lotion offered by the hotel comes in packages like you get ketchup in at a fast-food restaurant. When we went into the restroom the first time, we noticed that the body lotion left for us was already opened and used. When we called the front desk to report it, we were told that more was available at the front desk and we could come get it.
When we turned on the TV in the 2nd bedroom, the color on the small TV was very bad - the red in the picture was very heavy and we could not get rid of it; the picture was unwatchable. We called the front desk and spoke with Mike again. His response was "the TV is a refurbished set and that's the best it's going to be".
That night, we had trouble blocking out the light in the main bedroom, as the light which illuminates the building at night was right outside our window and when the curtains were completely closed, it did not block out the light. It was like having an overhead light on in the room. We finally figured out a way to "tuck" the curtains in and block out the light.
Then the people above us started making a lot of noise - it sounded like they were jumping up and down on the floor and moving furniture. We had to call the front desk 3 times before something was done about the noise.
The next day, when we tried to close the curtains in the main room, the valance fell off the window (photo attached) and cut the arms of one of the people in our group. That person went to the front desk to let them know and to get some band-aides. Mike was at the front desk again, he told us to put the valance in the corner in the room, gave us some band-aides and sent us on our way. He did not offer to send anyone to fix the valance and could not seem to care less that someone had required band-aides because of the incident. There was no medical attention offered, and no follow-up.
On the positive side, the room was large, the beds were comfortable (though my sheets had rips in them - and bring your pillows from home) The breakfast was adequate. All in all, the price we paid, the room was a good value, but if another hotel is available the next time I visit Gulf Shores, AL, I definitely will not stay here again.
