“Great location, usual Marriott quality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

My wife and I enjoyed our 1-night stay here. This location met our needs perfectly as we were on our way to a family reunion in Lawrence County, TN, to the north of here. Having a nice kitchen in which to prepare a couple of trays to take with us to the gathering was perfect. Our unit was neat, well furnished, and very comfortable. This place is much larger that it appears from US 72/US 43. It is located along this busy highway just a bit east of Cox Creek Parkway, an ideal location in Florence. From here, one can easily drive to downtown (a do-not-miss part of a visit to Florence) and to the nice area around Marriott Shoals Resort and Spa along the Tennessee River. This place is typical of the newer types of Residence Inn, with a nice outdoor barbecue area. We would most definitely stay here again when in the area.

Consistency is one of Marriott’s goals! I hope your family reunion was wonderful and attendees enjoyed your food trays you were able to prepare in the comfort of your own in room kitchen! And yes, thank you for pointing out our Downtown is a do-not-miss part of Florence. I couldn’t agree more!

I recently stayed at the Residence Inn in Florence while in the Mussel Shoals area on business. The stay was for the most part nice, the hotel was very clean, and bigger than it seems from the outside. The dinner provided at the socials was good and the breakfast was equal or better than what I have come to expect from a complementary breakfast. My only complaint would be that the hotel was taken over by a kids baseball tournament, and the hotel was full of unsupervised kids, making most amenities like the pool unusable.

While our area is privileged and honored to host the Cal Ripken Baseball Tournament, we deeply understand the limited availability of amenities to our Corporate Travelers. During Tournament Season, the pool and basketball court remain the most popular and are continuously occupied by our much younger guests! We do make every effort to inform the teams to be courteous to our regular and corporate travelers. I hope your business will bring you again to the area and you will be able to squeeze in some more “peaceful” laps at the pool! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us!

I see on TA this hotel is #6 of #12 hotels in Florence. I really can't imagine why, because this place was really nice! The 5 before it must be spectacular!

Typical Residence Inn; seemed very new, but I’m not sure about that. My suite was clean and well-equipped with frig, stove, dishes, silverware, etc. The bathroom was very clean with lots of fresh, clean towels.

VERY comfortable, firm bed - fantastic. Breakfast buffet (free) was good and the area was clean. Beautiful lobby and gorgeous outdoor pool and tennis court. GREAT wifi and plenty of free parking. This place is kinda on the outskirts of town, but not a far drive from town (Florence is really small). I didn’t notice much within walking distance, but I didn’t really look – I was only here for 1 night.

Awesome outdoor pool - really pretty. I'm not really a pool-person, but I saw adults and kids swimming in it and having such a great time on a very hot summer day.

All good. I'd stay here again, for sure.

p.s. If you stay here, put aside an hour or two to go down the street and visit the only Frank Lloyd Wright house in Alabama (The Rosenbaum House) [ directions: go left out of the hotel and watch for the signs to the house]. It's REALLY nice and there's a great tour guide. You can take photos inside and out - it's a really nice thing to do when in Florence.

Room Tip: I liked overlooking the very pretty pool!

Green Features: I didn't notice any recyle bins, but they used real dishes and silverware - so that cuts down on plastic trash. I WISH hotels would recycle!!!!

Thank you for the fantastic review! I am thrilled to hear you were able to enjoy our hotel amenities as well as had the opportunity to visit one of Florence’s greatest prides, the Rosenbaum House! Next time you are in town, make time for the Handy House as well as Helen Keller’s birthplace

Typical of Residence Inns. The evening social was nice and filling. Had planned on dinner downtown, but we were too full! A large crowd of people were using the patio, pool and gas grill in the common area, seemed to have it to themselves. Room very comfortable, sleep quality good. Close to downtown if needed. Would gladly stay here again.

I am so happy to hear you enjoyed our complimentary evening social. However, when you visit us again, you must make it downtown as they have fantastic shops and great eateries with local flavor! This time of year our guests know how to enjoy summer and relax by grilling out by the pool! I look forward to your next visit!

We spent 5 nights at the Florence Residence Inn. We had a 1 bedroom suite that was quite spacious. The chair in the living room is a recliner which was nice. The property is 4 years old and pretty modern decor. The kitchen was quite nice - it even had an oven. Some of the furniture in our room did loo a little worn. They have food available Mon-Wed evenings. We enjoyed our stay at the Residence Inn & would recommend it to other travelers who need a hotel in the area. One thing we didn't like is there isn't an online guide on the TV so it was hard to know what was on when and there were no in-room movies but that was ok.

Green Features: They are very environmentally friendly here. So much so that they don't have a book in the room describing the hotel and they don't even have a channel guide in the room.

I am happy to hear you enjoyed your five nights with us! Not many hotels can list an oven as an amenity and I hope you had the opportunity to use it. The complimentary evening meal socials three nights a week usually does not leave much time for in-room cooking! We are very proud to be the first hotel in Florence to be certified Green and continue to seek out ways to alleviate our hotel footprint. We have eliminated most of our paper traces though out the hotel. Thank you for comment regarding the channel guide. Even though our front desk retains a copy, we will think of a new way to have one more accessible to the guests that does not require a printed copy in every room.

Residence Inns are typically cookie cutter, which is good. You know what to expect. This hotel doesn't disappoint. Nice hotel with nice surroundings and landscaping. Only marked it as a 4/5 because it wasn't as clean in the common areas as it could have been and the pillows were feather and flat. Great breakfast, good location. Quiet rooms.

Consistency is the goal. If you are staying at a property in New York or Florence, AL it should be consistent to the guest. I am saddened to hear our common areas and pillows were not up to standard. The hotel has often been awarded for cleanliness and we failed at consistency and I apologize. I assure you it is not the norm and have taken steps to correction. Hope you come back to visit soon as we plan to get new queen size pillows in all of our rooms!
