“The Definition of Southern Hospitality!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2012

We were travelling to Fairhope to see family, and found the Point Clear Cottages on Tripadvisor and read the reviews. We were a bit apprehensive, as we didn't think anyplace could be as good as it sounds. We were wrong...the Point Clear Cottages was everything that was said about it and more. We stayed in the Pelican's Rest for two nights and were amazed at the size, spotless cleanliness, and comfort of these accomodations. There was even Ice Cream in the Freezer wainting for us! The third night we moved into the Master bedroom in the house and, while not as large, the room was very comfortable, with a big bed and large bathroom. We didn't get to see the cottage, but talking with folks who were staying there, they give it the highest marks. Breakfast every morning is a feast! Joanne's biscuits are outstanding, and the omlets are to die for. (Here's a tip...if you don't have at least two, she'll think you don't like them!) Breakfast was big enough to carry you through the day. We also enjoyed the gardens and the pier, where we sat out at sunset, felt the cool breeze, and enjoyed a glass of wine. I'm not big on B&B's, but Robert Berglin and his staff made me a believer. Robert truely makes you feel welcome, and like one of the family. If you are in Fairhope, and don't stay at the Point Clear Cottages, you are missing a real treat and an experience that you will remember. The only downside is that eventually, you have to leave! This is the only place we will stay in Fairhope, and we will definitely be back.

I can't say enough nice things about the owner of Point Clear Cottages. Mr Berglin went above and beyond to make my son and his new wife feel welcome on their honeymoon stay. From the day I made the reservations and requested some more information about finding a few extra's in the area to put in the cottage, he was so helpful. Mr Berglin went out of his way to get the kids flowers to put in the cottage and pointed me in the direction of a wonderful candy shop. He then went and picked up the candy and had everything waiting in the cottage for their arrival. I would highly recommend this property for anyone who would like a relaxing stay in a beautiful place right on the Mobile Bay!

We hate to share this wonderful get away, but we would like to show our appreciation to a most accommodating host. The property is idyllic and the cottage was perfectly outfitted(including a bottle of milk for morning coffee) with everything that you would need for a short comfortable stay. The decor was well done, and included a comfy bed with freshly pressed sheets. Outside a hot tub was perfectly placed at the water's edge, adjoining a picturesque dock. In the morning our host presented an excellent breakfast of home baked biscuits with peach preserves and cheese omelet with fresh strawberries and juice. Perfect!

Room Tip: We loved the cottage by the water for the view and the privacy.

We rented the entire complex...Pelican's Rest, Bayshore Cottage, and a room/bath in the main house! The furnishings are extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. It is all spit-shine clean and the landscaping is spectacular. The guys fished off the pier all day while the girls attended wedding parties.
When we decided to cook dinner on the pier that night, Mr. Berglin pulled together a wagon with dishes and such for us to take to the pier. He is the
ultimate host ...definitely into customer satisfaction! And the people he has working there to assist are just the best!
Rooms have coffee supplies, various juices, milk, cereal, candy, and Blue Belle Ice Cream! What more could we ask for?
We will be back!

Room Tip: Pelican's Rest is the largest cottage but Bayshore Cottage has a view of the bay.

My wife and I stayed in the bay cottage and the rest of our family took up the the other locations on the property. Each room was fully stocked (blue bell ice cream in the freezer) and had great amenities. We spent the day enjoying the bay and grilling/fishing on the dock. The breakfast was prepared each morning of our stay and was delicious. I will be returning as soon as possible. The landscaping, trees and bay setting was quite a treat.

Room Tip: I recommend the bay cottage. I has a great bay view and perfect for a romantic weekend. 20 second wa...
