“It's Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

My wife and I were looking for a quiet, but beautiful, place to stay. We've definitely found a jewel in Point Clear Cottages! The owner, Mr. Robert Berglin, has gone out of his way to make us feel like family. We will make this an annual event! Thanks, Mr. Robert!

Happy we found it and we will be back. Mr. Robert is a most gracious host and most attentive to his guests' wants and needs. Use of the private pier a surprise amenity. Private, peaceful and charming.

We enjoyed marveling at the beauty and quality of the property and specifically the Bay Shore cottage that has so much character and charm with its vaulted ceilings, pine floors, antiques and freshly ironed sheets! Mr. Berglin appeared to really love sharing his property with us and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The cottage truly is surrounded with the most beautiful shade gardens. The view of the Bay from the private pier is incredible. It is fully furnished with hammocks, chairs, grill, fishing rods and an unbelievable moonlit view. The homemade breakfast with blueberry pancakes was delicious and Joann the housekeeper was more than welcoming! Highly recommend this property without hesitation!

We enjoy staying in B&Bs wherever we go,and this one was wonderful. The furnishings were traditional ,elegant and clean. Wonderful, thick white towels and Thermapedic mattresses on the king size bed provided all the comfort one desires. Delightful!

Our host ,Robert, was accomodating in every way. When I needed a makeup mirror, in two minutesI had a lighted mirror in my hands, and Robert was planning to get more for his other rooms!

Robert is a wonderful baker. You'll want to make sure you try his blueberry muffins. They have a tender crumb and are filled with blueberries, crushed and whole. He will share his recipe with you,and if you are like me, you'll ditch your favorite recipe in favor of his!

Be sure to spend time on his pier in one of the hammocks or fishing. We did both. I spent the morning in the hammock listening to the sound of waves hitting the sea wall. It was infinitely restful. My husband fished and swam with our toy poodles. Can't wait to go back!

My husband and I drove down to Alabama from Michigan on our vacation. The Point Clear Cottages was our favorite place we stayed on our vacation. We want to go back. The pictures do not do it justice. It is absolutely beautiful. We went into town and saw some of the other places that we saw online. They did not compare. I loved having our own dock to relax on. The hammock and chairs were great for just kicking back and listening to the waves after golf. In the morning, we sat on the porch and looked at the bay while we ate homemade blueberry muffins. Thank you, Robert!

We greatly enjoyed our stay in the Pelican's Rest Cottage. It was perfect for my husband, two Boys (4 & 7), and I! The grounds are beautifully landscaped with a pond, pier with hammocks & BBQ grill, and a hot tub overlooking the bay where you can watch the sunset or relax and watch the night sky with beautifully lit trees in the background! Robert made us feel at home and since this cottage had a kitchen, he stocked our fridge with eggs, bacon, a loaf of fresh bread, fresh sliced fruit, and got us the requested cereal and milk for the Boys. Talk about Southern
Hospitality...we had everything we needed and if there was something we requested (ex. Umbrella), he delivered it to us quickly:). We plan to return soon! Thank you, Robert for everything!

July was a repeat visit to the Pelican’s Rest for me and my daughter, making this vacation like coming home. Homemade blueberry muffins, fresh ground coffee, bicycles, use of the Innkeeper’s private pier, 2 hammocks, fishing poles and a large hot tub were available without ever having to neither leave nor compete with other customers, just made the trip. The cleanliness of the cottage as well as the well manicured landscape for the entire property gave it a feel of luxury. We could just relax and catch up or make use of the close proximity of Fairhope, Mobile, and Gulf Shores to head out for a few hours of sightseeing, shopping or trying some of the local restaurants. The Innkeeper, Mr. Berglin is a great host and attentive to any need or request. He is never further away that his own front door or quick phone call. I would highly recommend his cottages for your next vacation and look forward to another visit in the Fall.
