“Nothing a good cleaning wouldn't fix”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Wanted to get past Birmingham on a trip home but the pickings are slim. Was getting late so we pulled off here and decided on the ABVI because of past experiences, especially price.
Room was decent but the property is obviously dated. Cobwebs in the ceiling corners and the curtains. Wanted to plug in computer behind the bed and the dust/dirt was pretty thick. The room obviously hadn't been used in a while because there was a layer of dust on the hangers.
All of this could be solved with a little more attention to cleanliness and a vacuum with an extension wand.
The bathroom was fine as was the shower. Bed was a little hard but what motel bed isn't.

Absolutely nasty! Beds were horrible, room smelt bad, bathroom was beyond gross, breakfast was SAD! Stay ANYWHERE but here! Truckers were sleeping in the parking lot, the roof over the sidewalk was held up by 2 2x4's. The whole joint was sketchy to say the least.

Ran into Talladega race fans in Birmingham, AL and very high motel prices. We were referred to this motel in Cullman. Price at $59 per night was great. Check in was fine. Beds had clean crisp sheets and bedding was fine. The rest of the room was a disaster. Repair/replaster of wall damage and ceiling-probably from water damage. Bathroom door had been kicked in - no fixture in shower drain; just the hole. Possible bullet hole over the guest chair. Saw no bugs but lots of dust and dirt behind things. Very poor choice by us. We usually stay in Hampton, Holiday Inn Express, or equivalent.

Stayed here in January and again in April. Good value and the people were friendly and accommodating when our phone and microwave didn't 't work by replacing it. Good breakfast. Clean room.Would stay here again.

Room Tip: None-we asked for a ground floor room as we have a problem with steps.

Welp, I didnt have reservations, and was on my way back to Michigan from a wedding in Florida. I called, and the gentleman that assisted me was Friendly, but spoke with a very think Indian accent. This made me hesitant, but the rest of the town was sold out, as apparently, displaced families from a devestating tornado that ransacked the area, as well as the disaster relief workers in the area to help with the cleanup are occupying about 90% of the hotel rooms in Cullman. That coupled with the Race in Talladega earlier that day made rooms scarce, and I was tired. so I decided to try the super 8. The same gentleman that answered my call was the agent there for me to check in. He was very friendly, but didnt seem to understand my questions, and I could definitely barely understand his responses. The room itself was clean, air conditioner worked properly, hot water was readily available, phone/lights worked fine, bed was fairly comfortable. Only paid $42 so the cleanliness, and comfort exceeded my expectations. However, the airfreshener they used for the room was VERY strong, and there were some people that were displaced from the tornado that were harrassing me, asking me for a ride to the store to get food and cigarettes. It was well after 1am, and they were too intoxicated to drive. They were very nice when I declined, but they continued to ask until i went into my room, and I heard them partying, and asking others who were out in the parking lot for quite some time. The attendant on duty knew what was going on, and he didnt do ANYTHING to quiet the people down, in fact, didnt leave his little enclosed cage behind the counter. Would probably stay there again in a pinch, but hopefully next time I am cruising thru Cullman, the tornado displacements will be back in their own homes......

Dear Traveler,
Thank You for letting us know about the inconveniences you experienced during your stay here. There was a couple looking after the hotel temporarily before we actually took over. I agree that something should have been done about the noise and can only assure you that it will never happen again.

We are in the process of making a lot of changes and would love to show you if you are in our area again soon.

Thank You,
Owner
