Went to Bar B Q after a year. The ambience is still the same. This is one big restaurant (of some pedigree) in terms of the covers available (at least by Kolkata standards). Went there during the last week of Dec for lunch with friends. The most wonderful thing was that we got a place right away - no booking required.
Now is that good or bad?? Peter Cat / Mocambo you just cannot get a seat - in the latter it has be to advance booking or at least a half hour wait at this time. Peter Cat - no bookings accepted and the lines dont end. So is this a signal of the quality of the food in Bar BQ or the size of the restaurant. I would like to think both but then the quality of the food can really improve.
We had chinese. It was nothing great. Could have been better. It was not bad either. Just so so. The service is something that can certainly improve. It was quite poor. Be that as it may, it still is a good place to hang out with old friends. quintessential Calcutta.
Portion sizes were good. The chilli pork could have been far better. The golden fried prawns were very good. The fried rice and noodles were staple Indian Chinese.
