“Good hotel, strategically located”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

The hotel is really well located. At a fair distance from the airport, part of the commercial area, overlooks the main areas of Kolkata, has a few tourist attractions nearby, Victoria Memorial Hall, the ISKCON temple, South Park Street Cemetery, etc.

The hotel is grand & imposing on the outside yet warm and friendly on the inside. The staff is courteous and friendly. The rooms are good, seem new yet the bathroom doors reveal the age of the construction. That could be redone. The restaurant is good. There was a marriage group in the hotel, making the place a tad noisy. However had an overall comfortable stay.

Room Tip: Pick a room that is away from the lift as it tends to get very noisy otherwise even at night.

Excellent location. The view from my room was super awesome overlooking Kolkata. The staff was very friendly and made home like food for me. Night club culture in the hotel is also great. Food and beverage was superb in the hotel.

Have stayed in this hotel a few times and always like to convenience of the place. Quick entry and getaways to and from the airport. Close to the Park street, Camac street area and the road outside is inhabited till late.

Underground is a hotspot for the local rich and does rock till late which becomes a problem for the guests as the thump resounds till the sixth floor. The pool was covered ( it was winter ) and the gym is once cramped room which looks like an afterthought.

The breakfast is average and I wasnt able to use any other of the outlets. The rooms are a tad old but nice. The bathroom could be renovated.

Had a bad experience with the coffee shop manager the last visit and have decided never to stay at a hotel where the staff is as obstinate as him. Avoid him at dinner time as he can hound you for your room number even if you have no intention of partaking the buffet. Over zealous.

The staff is very helpful and quick especially in the lobby and reception. Very good value for money as you can watch the city from the higher floors with the flyover beneath your feet.

We stayed in the hotel at the time of Christmas. They were well decorated hotel and arranged Christmas carol. That movement was very nice. It is a very nice place to stay with family. Their hospitality is remarkable. Quality of food and beverage was very testy.

Room Tip: Room facing to church/road.

I was visiting Kolkata for a business trip in the last week of January 2014 and stayed at the HHI Kolkata for 3 nights. The hotel is good but has the old world look to it. Even the rooms have the same look. I had the Imperial room to stay. The rooms are good and spacious, though some comments could be made. In the room i stayed, the TV was a issue. It just wouldn't start till you pressed the remote 20 times. The wardrobe did not have any clothes hanger and had to be requested, which they readily supplied. The walls seemed too thin as the conversations of the neighbouring rooms could be heard. The rooms has bath tub and running hot water which is always welcome. Hair dryer available in the room. Coffee/tea, cookies and fruits are replenished every day (again welcome in case you want a midnight snack). Daily Newspaper service and wifi service is available. The bed and linen were clean and fresh towels were supplied daily.

I had complimentary buffet breakfast and it was indeed a good and lavish spread. Enjoyed the food.

The hotel is very conveniently located close to the business area and a metro station (Rabindra Sadan). Quite a few eating joints (including Haldiram) in close proximity of the hotel. The Hotel boasts of a night club-disco called 'Underground' (though did not venture to explore it). It does host wedding parties and other events which may make the hotel lobby a bit noisy and crowded.

Overall a good experience.

Room Tip: Preferred the back facing rooms as they are not facing the main road and hence less noisy.

Very neat & clean hotel for your business trip. May not suit your personal trip due to minimum rent of 6000 per day. Varities of breakfast and enjoy to taste even gulf sweets. Heart of Kolkatta and shopping areas near

Room Tip: Good for businees trip and very good breakfast

As I said its really ur home away from ur home. We had booked 5 rooms for 5 days mainly based on its #1 rating on TripAdvisor . All the services are awesome. The disco "UNDERGROUND" is my evertime favourite ( do try the signature cocktails of HHI overthere) . The collection of liquor is outstanding in Mythh. The vast spread of Breakfast is really mouth watering. Live music joint really mesmerises u. Camac n Park streets r very close by for shopping.Very comfortable and friendly staff. Cool n calm environment even on that v v busy road.

Room Tip: pls select rooms getting sunlight.
