Hotel Hindustan International more popularly called as HHI is @ the heart of the city & close to the central business district.

It claims to be a 5 star, however when one compares the hotel with other 5 star properties in the city it turns out to be a great disaapointment. Rooms are very shabby with worn out furnitures & fittings.

Complimentary breakfast is good with a very well spread out variety. Food is good at this hotel be it breakfast, at restuarents, conference or in room dining.

Conference rooms are good and well appointed with all modern arrangements, the big plus of this hotel is it`s banquet.

Swimming pool is as vintage as the hotel rooms seems to be a roadside pond with no privacy at all.

If one is expecting 5 star facilities and ambience at this hotel, should avoid staying here.

I stayed at the hotel for 1 week in a row. Every year I make the annual trip to Kolkata during Pujas as the city comes alive during this time. This was the first time i chose this hotel as the location was central and ofcourse the low rates during the festive season further sweetened the deal. I came in a little early so had to wait for my room and was offered tea. After about 15 minutes I was informed that I have been upgraded, well the room was nice and well appointed and had good views overlooking the flyover and the city. The street outside was very busy but the room was quiet.
I was super happy with the location and was a boon during in the Puja traffic rush. All the malls, shopping areas, eateries and my friends and relatives just a short drive away in the Ballygunj area.
At the hotel I was met with ever smiling faces and courtesy one would expect from a 5star property. There were the odd delay in the room service but one call sorted it out. Breakfast menu can be changed from time to time, as in my 7 day stay I could have gotten some variety. The service staff were very good and alert. used the pool and gym in the evenings, infact the duty manager was sweet enough to allow 3 of my friends from outside who wanted to use the pool without charges. My friends and I tried the Kalash restaurant where they had a Bengali food festival on, my first experience of the cuisine, totally loved it. What made the evening more special were candle lights and live Ghazals. In the end I had become very familiar with everyone and the hotel felt like my home. Would certainly come back next year!

I spent one night here on a business trip. The hotel claims to be a 5* property but its probably about 3.5* at best. The rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. The bathroom had mold all over the floors. The food in the cafe was average at best and half the menu was not available. The service in the cafe was very slow. Overall a let down, will seek alternatives next time.

Overall a nice place. Gym is good. Could add individual TV for treadmill with earphone. Weighing machine could be added to room. Sweet dishes were good and pizza was also good in the dinner. Starters and soup need improvement. Due to crowd staff is unable to cope up with the service needs and in the breakfast time one had to wait even for fresh plates which is not good. Absence of service due to overwork of staff make you uncomfortable which the hotel need to attend. Bathroom had a typical smell which makes you uncomfortable. On arrival I was given a coupon and told to call a number for getting a welcome drink which was a 375ml liquor bottle. On calling the number the questioning was not in good taste and it did not look like a welcome offer. I did not request for but it was offered. Housekeeping staff is good.
