“Seven Seventeen, Darjeeling”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

I stayed in the hotel along with a lot of relatives in Nov 2012. The Hotel is located close to the center of Darjeeling and has easy access to the Mall, The commercial center and is about a 15 minutes walk from the Darjeeling Railway station. The Hotel has a nice boutique interior look and the hotel is managed by a family that stays on the premises. The owner is very courteous and makes it a point to interact with his guests.

The Buffet spread is average but typically of good quality. Your experience and review will depend to a extent on the room you stay in. Room 306 or the once facing the inside street don't offer a great view. In fact looking out of the window is best avoidable since you encounter a dilapidated structure across the room as well as a garbage dump. The other downside of the room is that it is very poorly lit.

The only reason I will rate this as average and not poor are its interior, the owner who manages the property and its location.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the street.

The hotel is well situated near the mall in Darjeeling and exudes a Tibetan atmosphere. Restaurant with excellent food and friendly service. Clean spacious rooms. When you are lucky the Tibetan manageress will show you the little house temple. A perfect experience in sometimes dingy India.

Room Tip: rooms on the back side have wonderful views over Darjeeling tea fields

This hotel is excellent situated in the centre of Darjeeling. It is on walking distance to the tourist shops, mall, famous railway station, local shops. The rooms are clean, comfortable and even room service is available. The owners are very friendly and helpful in many ways.
The hotel is a beautiful artwork of Tibetan Style, has an own shop, which is less expensive than the local tourist shops.
The food is tasty and rich.

Room Tip: Some rooms on the 5th floor have spectacular view on the mountains.

This was a delightful hotel! With the possible exception of one lady at reception, the staff could not have done more for us, and everything they did was with a smile. The decor is pure Tibetan (as is the delightful owner!), which makes it an interesting and rewarding experience in itself. The rooms were lovely and seemed to be very good value for money. The restaurant had a very extensive menu, and the location was very central. All in all, a pleasure to stay in, and something just a tiny bit different...

Room Tip: Remember to take a spare passport photo of yourself (and every other guest) for registration purpose...

The hotel is very nice, located in central Darjeeling, having a typical tibetan style. The rooms are very good, the price honest and the staff very helpful. The owners are tibetans and the restaurant offers delicious meals tibetan, indian and international. I recommed this nice hotel. I have stayed there for nine days.

The interior of this hotel is a boutique that enhances the joy of Romance. One will enjoy even spending the whole day inside rooms. Though lane outside of this hotel is narrow which is only draw back but that is discounted by quality of meals and service of the staffs. Mr. Jigme Dorjee Bhutia, owner of the hotel is a nice fellow, straight forward and courteous. i prefer to stay in Room no. 101 . Its look adds pleasure in act of romance.

Room Tip: Room no. 101
