“Holiday with Friends”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

After a 10 day trek in Nepal we took 5 friends to India. We stayed at the Cedar Inn in Darjeeling and we were delighted with the friendly service and wonderful food, although we unable able to see the mountains, the views from the rooms were great and the gardens were beautiful. We stayed here 4 years ago and we were so happy that the quality of the food and service had been maintained. Many thanks for a great few days!

The rooms have wooden floors and wooden walls which makes the room warms. There are many fireplaces. The view os better than most other hotels is Darjeeling. The food is good. There is a free pick up and drop service from to the mall.

My family and I stayed in the Cedar Inn in Darjeeling in March 2013. The Inn is beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service top-notch. The views from our room and the public areas of the hotel were spectacular. I especially liked the hot water bottle and fire in the fireplace in our room in the evening. The waiter in the restaurant was kind, informative, and gave impeccable service. The only down (minor) was the duvet was stained but it did look clean and the hotel does have a little wear but does seem well kept. I hope to return and stay there again. Darjeeling was one of the highlights of our trip to India an the Cedar Inn was my favorite hotel.

Away from the town. Though pick ups are arranged at specific time. Rooms were congested and though the views from the hotel and room were nice the lack of a good food menu hindered a bit on our stay. The food choice was limited and the restaurant would not entertain any deviations from their list of food available.

I Stayed here for three days at a top floor with excellent view of Kanchanjunga. This hotel is definitely within best three hotels in Darjeeling. As out conference was here we enjoyed a lot. The market place is little far with walking distance more than one and half kms, but quite ok if you do not vosit them frequently. As all the arrngements made by the hotel for conference, we feel it is an excellent place if anybody wants to arange any business meeting along with housing facilities for guests. The rest of the things like food, service, hot water are good. Internet access facilities is an advantages. Everything were there. Intresting thing is that the market is open even after 20:00 hours, which was good for me to go after meeting everyday. Last time the timing I visited Darjeeling, it was unfortunately opened only upto 17:00 hrs. They have very good conference room. The Big Bazzar is at working distance, however, things are not available in great bargain price, but the complex is with many high-end stores including movie halls. We enjoyed our time without any hassles.

Room Tip: Go for top floor, if u are luckky, without cloud day you can have great view of KanchanJunga.

The location of the hotel is great and one can enjoy the awesome view of Darjeeling city and the hills from such height especially when the sun rises. The hotel has a cosy feel to it with woodwork all over the place. Staff is good and they arrange for heating arrangement at the fireplace since it gets really cold here (we went there in Jan'12). The rooms are not very big but cosy. Food though is not great so would recommend eating food outside in the main market. The hotel arranges for free taxi pick up to & from the market at specific timings. Overall...stay for awesome view!!!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012 via mobile

We are here during the coldest season in Darjeeling and are facing Indian accomodations without heating which is very common here.

Before we arrived the hotel service staff turned on the heating fan and upon arrival we were asked if want to have the fireplace turned on befor of after dinner. After dinner we received a hot water filled bottle without asking. What a positive surprise and great service.

The atmosphere here is fantastic and makes you feel like in old British times- tea served in silver cans for dinner, silk wall paper in the restaurant, the great and well maintained garden with metal furniture... Unfortunately not usable in December but beautiful.

The view is fantastic- you can honestly skip the trip to tiger falls at 4 am whih most tourist guides offer (see uploaded picture which was taken from room 106 with cell phone!!).

We were called and asked if everything is ok every day and since the menue is being freshly prepared for us we just indicated when to have dinner (we booked breakfast and dinner). The restaurant staff is great and very service oriented.

We enjoy our stay here.

If to mention one thing to improve I would strongly recommend the bathroom facilities. The time is over where instead of showers bathtops have curtains and if they do they should be clean. Taking a shower is not a wellness experience but more of a pain. That's the only reason why I deduct one star on room quality and cleanliness.
I also believe that 130 IDR for a coke and 400 IDR for an alcoholic drink is too much for this place. That's why I deducted 1 star for this.

Nevertheless I strongly recommend this place with such a great atmosphere.
