“good hotel to stay at Darjeeling”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

its one of the good hotel at darjeeling, nice cottage having highly decorated interior with fireplace.
Dining room is very nice; however, there is a scope to improve in food & service.
Since the group based in Bhubaneshwar (near sea area), every where there is a touch of beach item like statue maid of sand stone etc.

Room Tip: Must try to stay in individual cottage (1st floor) having fire place or heritage room (hill facing)

This hotel is probably the best hotel in Darjeeling. The prices of are slightly steep, but worth every money. Staff is excellent and very supportive and cheerful and always willing to go that extra mile to assist you. The property is beautiful with very luxurious and beautifully designed rooms. One thing that was very noticeable was the attention given to finest details while doing up the property. We had the breakfast and dinner buffets which had a lavish spread with great tasting food. We stayed with our 2 kids in Room 405 which was pretty huge and yet very cozy. Excellent hotel overall. I would return to Darjeeling to stay at this hotel. A beautiful hotel for a beautiful hill station!!

This property is very well done up and has a British colonial feel to it. The rooms are big, the property is clean, the staff is courteous and the food is good. It does have a large variety of options to choose from. It has a nice little bar and a very tastefully done up library as well. There wasnt much of a water problem as is in several hotels at Darjeeling.
One of the drawbacks is that the "business centre" had just one computer and most of the time, there was a queue to use it. Also, the place does get very noisy with too many kids running around the place.
Overall the stay was great and we would love to stay here again. It's the best Darjeeling has to offer!

Mayfair hotel is a beautiful resort in a very congested town. The rooms are neat and clean. The ambience and feel of the resort is amazing. Staff is extremely helpful and polite. Gr8 food . The library has some beautiful and rare photos worth seeing. Beautiful artefacts docorating the walls of the property. Childrens play area is good with lots of stuff. Food is simply superb and has a lot of variety in the buffet. Sad part that there is no lift. However the staff was good enough to provide a room on the lower level.

The hotel is beautiful inside and outside , a set of English colonial style houses, decor indian and colonial british.
Rooms big and confortable, helpful staff.Dinner was inluded, what is good, because nothing to do in Darjeeling at night
Breakast and dinner superb, with indian and western option, delicious food.Hotel is close to Darjeeling downtown, so location is good enough.
Hotel desk arrrange tours around.
Welcome drink is a special brand of Darjeeling tea, and was the best regular tea I take in my life.

Mayfair Darjeeling is a beautiful property in a sadly deteriorating town. Nestled away from the crowded streets and shabby old shops and buildings, this property has an old world charm thanks to its all wood decor and priceless photographs hanging on almost all the walls ! The rooms are comfortable and tastefully done. However, the mattresses on the beds were far too soft for my comfort. The room service menu is very limited, as is the fare available in the restaurants. The staff go out of the way to see that you are comfortable but do tend to get confused at times ! All in all, a very nice hotel which I would like to visit were it not located in Darjeeling.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms which have a view of the Himalayas as not all do !

Stayed here on 30th April and 1st May. Had booked 4 rooms as we were a family. Though a bit inside from the main road this hotel is mind blowing. The landscape within, rooms, toilet, food, staff all were outstanding. This is a heritage building giving you an old world charm which has been decorated well with a modern touch. Absolutely worth the stay. The staff in restaurant are very co-operative. The Chowrasta is 5 minutes walking distance from ths hotel. I must particularly commend the person who plays piano at dinner time in Magnolia, which is absolutely fantastic, soothing and relaxing. Only one problem which they had is that nobody was available in the spa or the saloon to serve me during my stay otherwise it would have been the ultimate cherry on the cake.
