Darjeeling is a very famous hill station in India. Yes, it is crowded, yes it has a mall road too and yes a quaint train that runs alongside the road. But what I wasn't quite prepared was the overwhelming sight of the Kanchenjunga peak. One cant help but gape in wondrous amazement at its varying hues during the day. DONT DON'T miss the sunrise moment when the first rays light up the snow-clad peak with a golden dazzle.
You must carefully choose your place of stay so that you can get as much of mountain as you can. You are better off travelling in hired transport within the town as getting a parking place is near impossible. The Darjeeling Zoo is worth a look-in.
The drive to nearby Mirk is absolutely captivating and the locales are filmy settings, but Mirk itself is a neglected and poorly kept place and bound to disappoint you.
