Hot Stimulating Cafe was our pit-stop on the long walk back from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and Darjeeling Zoo. Rumba, the proprietor, is super-friendly and extremely articulate (if any part of Darjeeling history, culture, geography, or politics is confusing you, he can straighten things out; not to mention the usual questions: ATMs, currency exchange, sites, etc.). Try his veggie momos, both steamed and fried: no regrets.
The view rocks, the egg tree is an unexpected plus, and be sure to sign his guestbook before leaving (take a look at the older ones he keeps, too: they're fascinating). Great taste in music.
Don't leave Darjeeling without stopping by.
