“Not worth the experience!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

You have to wake up @3.30 am to go to Tiger Hill. At the entry gate you have to buy the tickets yourself and there is lot of rush and all the drivers park their vehicles as per their own wish and you have to walk throug all the maze and get the ticekts in chilly mornings. After rhis, the car is allowed inside and after few meters the car can be parked whereever you like!! There is no order in the parking and its all chaotic.
One has to wait patiently for the sunrise as there is lot of crowd and you can not move here and there as the place is very small and jam-packed!
Sunrise is beautiful for few seconds and then everyone i sin hurry to get out of this place but you are stuck as the car parked in haphazard manner and can not move unless and untill people get inside their cars.
Overall, not worth it! Better to have a good morning sleep in your room!

“best reason to visit darjeeling!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

It is the No. 1 attraction of Darjeeling. Claimed to be the only point in the world from where Mt.kanchunjanga and Mt.everest are seen together, the sunrise at tiger hills is the best morning you will ever see!

Tiger hills is already included in the sightseeing packages of tour operators. Else book a cab from your hotel. Wake up at 3am in the morning, and reach tiger hills by 4 am or 4.30 am last.

Prefer to stay in the open for the sunrise view rather than choosing the view house.

Fog/poor weather may spoil your day!

“Awesome view but the overcrowded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Please book a cab on the previous night from the hotel even if its expensive so that you ensure the cab driver actually turns up.
Cost us 1500 to take us to Tiger hill and back. On the way back we stopped at a monastery.
The view of the sunrise by itself is easily one of the best things I've seen in my life. However, the viewing area is built in such ill designed that lot of people will want to stand at the limited space. Gets very crowded. In our country people are not courteous in crowds. Be careful if your travelling with aged people. women and children. I was thinking if the view was worth it till I saw the sunrise. I am not sure yet. Hopefully the concerned people take cognizance of the need for more spaces and build a suitable structure

“Tiger ?Hill”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

It's a Must BUT it must be a clear day.
You will then see for miles and capture the best reflections of sunlight on the mountain range.
Make sue your driver rakes you to the top of the hill for the very vest views.

“Amazing Views... if you stay outside!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

There is no question that the Tiger Hill experience is worth having, so if you are in the region, book it in. So, just to make a couple of suggestions to make it worth getting up in the morning (usually at 3.30am to get a 4am start in your vehicle to get there about 4.45am to get into position for the sunrise)... first of all, when you wake up, check if you can see stars. If not, might be a cloudy morning, maybe defer your trip if you have the option. When you get to the Tiger Hill parking and entrance booth, get out of the car at the bottom of the hill to avoid the chaos of a thousand Bengalis trying to park on the narrow road to the top. Walking is faster, and you'll have an easier time getting away at the end. Then, when you buy your tickets, don't bother with the indoors options in the building, its crammed, and you're looking through grubby small windows rather than seeing the full wide vista that is available outside. Go around the base of the building and look for an elevated spot that will give you a wide view. The sun rises on the right (as you are looking North) and will light up Kangchenjunga directly in front... this is the view you want. Then you have other mountains including Everest over to the left. Check out the posters for sale with the names of mountains if that is interesting for you. Everest is just a small peak in the far distance, but is definitely viewable. Enjoy the view, and know that there will be a communal experience, not a meditative one, at the Tiger Hill view point! :-)
