“Hopeless Hotel !! Never ever prefer this hotel”

We entered Darjelling with lots of enthusiasm and joy. But we were badly disappointed once we entered this hotel and realised the biggest ever mistake made in life!!!

One of the worst hotels we have ever seen and spoiled my whole trip. Was really upset when we saw the area in which is located, Very dirty area and as mentioned by many people we have to climb 100 steps to enter the hotel.

The most shocking was the rooms were not like the once which are shown in the pictures. Please see the view in the photo uploaded. U can see only dirt tanks and slums as a view from hotel. Its all fake and when we asked the manager that this is not what we booked . He started arguing that "no this is what is there in internet", He was very rude at us. Finally we had to compromise with the dirty room given.

Bad service and management
1. No hot water available all the time. Should ask manager every time to switch on the geezer
2. Bad food and should wait for 1.5 hrs for food service to room.
3. Bath room is not clean
4 .Looks like Carpets in the room are not cleaned since a year
5, None of the plug points were working.

My kind suggestion to everyone is please dont ever book this hotel. It will spoil your entire trip

point 1: Plug Point are made of CROMA - the costly one. It takes to make a small pressure to insert the plugs in it. If it not works our room services division is always provide the guidelines - that how to use it.
Point - 2 .. there is to way to reach our hotel - 1 way takes 17-18 down stairs & another way which is about 75 stairs from the back side which is easily access to mall. -- if any direct booking / calls come to us we always suggest the guest before 5 minutes from the hotel please call the manager / reception they will guide you accordingly. ---
point 3 - In a hotel if there is 23 Rooms - it is not possible all that all will be view rooms (Mountain / Hill /Road) - Some of there should be back side & even it is not possible that all rooms will be in the same floor or in the ground /1st floor.
Point - 4 -- RUNNING HOT / COLD WATER FOR 24 HOURS AFTER GUEST CHECK IN. Everyone know that Darjeeling is a location where we always find a scarcity of Water & Every Hoteliers at Darjeeling Have to Purchase water according to there consumption on daily basis with high cost . We usually try stop wastage of water on social cause. If one time Geezer is on for 1 hours it contains hot water for another 2 hours. When the guest is outside the hotel without informing us or submit the room keys at reception we usually switched off the geezer to save wastage of electricity. After check in again If guest just make a call to our reception from Intercom - before to use Bathrooms for bath / Sanitary purpose we assist.
Point - 4 - If Any guest order food menu for 4-5 items for 10-12 people at a time it should take 1 hour. And in the season of Much Cold - Dec./ Jan/ Feb it will take 30 - 40 mins more according to the menu. We always suggest our residential guest to provide Lunch - Dinner Order minimum before 2 hours before to start off. And we always provide fresh food - Never use the wastage, it normally takes time. Regarding taste it depends on the guest tongue / choice. We need their co-operation on the time of ordering the food to the waiter that to suggest there requirement (Spicy / Sweet / Garlic etc) we prepare accordingly.
Point - 5 -- Regarding room cleaning it is on daily basis. if guest carry the rooms key when they are outside we can t open and make it clean due to security purpose. They have to inform the reception when they are in the room that to come & clean.

Darjeeling is a tourist spot - we are in the service industry - as from the management end part we select staff on the basis of their good behaviour - appearance - education. No one become rude until there will be any intolerable things happens times after times or if some one become child on their requirement. We expect Everyone should understand the value and similar respect to our all staffs, and keep in mind that they are 7800 ft upper than Plains there is scarcity of all requirements.

WE ALWAYS PREFER A SUGGESTION / CO-OPERATION & A SOFT HAND TO SERVE YOU PEOPLE BEST. GRIEVANCE IS A PART OF SERVICE - BUT CAN BE IMPROVE IF GUEST TRY TO CO-ORDINATE WITH US.

We had booked this hotel through make-my-trip and it was my one of the MOST BAD decision taken so far in my life. I strongly recommend travelers to NOT TO GO for this hotel. Location of the hotel is very bad.

We stayed here from 14th Dec’13 to 17th Dec’13. From the Day-1, the flush in the bathroom was not working. I asked many times to manager to look into that matter BUT HE DID NOT. Even the Bathroom ventilator is towards the room only. So the bad smell from the room spreads out in the room.

I requested them to provide us the room heater but they charged 500 everyday which is very high. But the actual charge of the room heater is around 150-200 INR. Room heater was not working properly.

IT’S NOT THE END OF STORY.

I cleared all the dues while leaving the hotel. But After that I got so many calls from manager and FORCING ME to provide him another 1500 INR. While I told him not to harass us anymore …he used many bad language and cut the phone.

So, Be careful before selecting this hotel otherwise your trip will be spoiled.

Also, Quality of food was somewhat satisfactory. We had to climb 60 steps to reach hotel reception after that another 100 steps to reach our room.

I strongly urge all travelers to not to go there, they do not care for guests and known for not honoring their commitments.

This hotel is not for those who have problems in climbing, as one needs to climb atleast 30-40 stairs before you reach the hotel.. even after you reach the hotel, its a sorry state of affairs, the interiors are claustrophobic and you feel that some body has locked you somewhere. The service was fair, but the enough staff was not present and the manager had the guts to tell us that staff has taken off, due to festival.. we vacated the hotel the very next day..

Hotel sanderling is one of best hotel in darjeeling.. We visited last jan in darjeeling they have arranged cab for us to pickup from airport.. Super deluxe rooms was awsome .. Full mountain.view just from your room.. You can enjoy full view of the city.and mountain just fron your room..all decorated room wid all services hot water room service all was very good..

Food quality is also very.good at reasonable price compare to others..
We took this trip plan from glrtraveltrip and they make an absoulate excellent trip plan for us. We will defintely visit here again n again..

We stayed at the sanderling for 4 nights for a relaxing break in Darjeeling before going trekking in Sikkim, and had a great time. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, although the service was quite slow at times. We stayed in the super deluxe room which has excellent mountain view ..
The staff were very kind & helpful , The food was excellent when it was local cuisine, but the one night when they served western food was disappointing. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing with an excellent high tea in the afternoons. Overall a charming place to stay, if not as polished as you might expect for the money.

My father and I stayed for three nights at this elegant, charming, and perfectly located hotel. The views of sloping mountains from room are incredible. My father and I will always remember the nice service of sanderling in a positive light - and we would certainly come back.

However much I'd like to, I can't give the property a star because they don't have lift and car parking facility , otherwise the service food quality room decoration [ we stayed in super deluxe mountain view room] will feels like you you are in a star category hotel in just good price which worth's staying..
we would definitely stay in sanderling in our next visit.
