“Succulent kababs”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Was at the Kabab factory yesterday (09/11). The new one at the Raddison Blu Egmore. The Non veg buffet was priced at Rupees1553. Started with a salad and some strawberry sauce which was good. Then started the 6 kababs , the first one was their priced kabab with the 128 spices in it. Then 2 chicken one with and one without bone , a sheekh kabab , fish and shrimp / prawn accompanied with a coupe of breads. Then comes the lentils with all kind a small sized rotis/ nans etc. Then the biriyani and desserts which had Kulfi , Rabdi , some real good strawberry mousse and besan halwa. Every single dish was well prepared and adequately cooked with the right amount of spices. Btw - Beer goes really well with the kaba's.

“Spice up that boiler suit!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

As I was staying in the radisson GRT, this was the obvious place to eat, being situated just off the hotel lobby. The theme of the restaurant is a "food production line" but the food quality, taste and presentation did the restaurant more justice than the quirky theme.
The cutlery comes to you in a bag called "tool kit". The napkin is actually the top part of a boiler suit (minus the legs) which helps keep shirts and blouses free of food spills.
There are veggie and non-veggie alternatives and you can re-select some of your favourites, too, if you'd like.
On the down side (which didn't in any way spoil my enjoyment of the meal) the restaurant does not have a liquor license so any alcaholic drinks must be poured in the hotel bar and then brought through to your table. Also, the lighting was subdued to the point where you couldn't clearly see the food that was being put onto your plate.
However, those two negatives were tiny compared to the great tasting food and the friendly service (and the beer was perfect with the several curry courses on the menu!).

“Great food. Liked it for what it is.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

This is one of those nice restaurants that provide 'Kebab' dishes.
One gets three choices - Veg, Non-Veg & Mix. The food includes a starter salad, followed by freshly made Kebabs - Paneer, Lamb, Fish, Prawns, Chicken, Mixed veg, etc, then the main dish - Indian breads with choice of dhal/curry, biryani & the desserts. Lassi is served.
'Indian restaurant, Tandoor food, desserts soaked in ghee ..' - This is how one would summarize if one goes by the standard predictable nature of tasting.
Fortunately the food is not as predictable and boring as it. To begin with, the quality of spices used in the Kebabs are outstanding. Saffron, Cardamom, Black pepper & rest of the spices used stand out. Chicken was succulent & prawns were cooked just to the right proportion. The minced lamb dish had too much of spice but it combined well with the roti & chutney. Fish was a bit of let down. I have tasted better Fish tikkas. Probably the choice of fish could have been better.
Paneer was simply amazing. Neither hard nor soft. It melted in the mouth. Hara bara kebab was ordinary.
Me & my friend went for the combo & after the Kebabs, we tried the main dish. Naans/Rotis with dhall/curry were served. The dhall was awesome. They also serve Biryani which we liked. Since one gets filled up with the Kebabs, the idea of smaller sized Naans/Rotis & biryani served in portion is a welcome move.
The desserts were outstanding too. The kulfi was perfect. Jamuns were as expected - over sweetened & had more ghee. But again, they are served in just the adequate quanity so one does not waste /get stuffed too much.
The crowd that visits the place is kind of mixed. Probably because of that, the restaurant tries to serve certain dish repeatedly (chicken & hara bara kebab in our case). When we asked for the paneer & the prawns, it took some time for them to get it.
The seating is a bit cramped. Though they give the traditional apron kind of stuff & copper spoons, I feel the seating could have been more comfortable.
Except for these two minor issues, everything else was exceptional. If one tries to evaluate the price against the quantity of food served, I don't think it would be fair. If one wants to have fun meeting friends with good food, then this is the place.
Making a reception is advised.

Awesome Ambiance and Excellent Service. The will make you to feel that you are a valued customer as they treat every customers like VIP. But the Price is High. Good for occasional Dining. 10 out of 10 Rating.
