The hotel is quite comfortable not only due to its location which is very near to the railway station but also the quality and quantity of food that is available there.

unfortunately, i could enjoy other hotel facilities due to lack of time.

Inn Chennai is perfectly located in Chennai. It is bang in the middle of Chennai city and on Mount Road, or Anna Salai, whichever you want to call the large main road that bisects chennai along its length into two. The very old and famous Gemini Flyover is somewhere in the middle of Anna Salai, and this hotel is just adjacent to the flyover on the airport side. So locating this hotel is very easy.

The building is decent, but parking space seems to be on the lowish side. You walk up a flight of some 8-10 steps to the lobby level, and you then have the door to the lobby on the left hand side and the restaurant on your right.

The lobby is small and acceptably neat and checking in is a breeze. The rooms are acceptably large, brightly lit, comfortably furnished, and spotlessly clean. So are the toilets. However the toilets have one problem. The lid, and even the seat, of the EWC does not stay up open. So men will have an awkward time holding it up with one hand while they need to urinate, and it is pretty difficult, believe me. That is if you are one who is bothered. If not....

Central airconditioning in many of the rooms doesnt live up to the task at hand, combating the Chennai heat. You will need to turn on the ceiling fan which has been thoughtfully provided and even set it to full speed initially. Beds, pillows, linen etc. are large, soft, very comfortable and also spotlessly clean, and there is nothing to complain about on this front. The television is good, with excellent choice of programs and generally the quality of TV reception is excellent. Overall the rooms are excellent, except for that one nagging little issue with the toilets.

However, the service at this hotel is something else altogether. Room service orders take for ever and are sometimes completely forgotten. This is a hotel where I have experienced consecutively thrice that my wakeup calls have been completely forgotten. In all three cases, it was on the check out date, when I was to catch a morning 7:30 flight home to Thiruvananthapuram from Chennai. As it happens, I am not one to rely overly on the hotel wake up calls and therefore I survived without missing any of those flights, but no thanks to this hotel. Now I strongly suspect, the problem is not with the reception but with the room service. Each and every time when this happened, I had ordered a bed tea along with the wake up call, and I suspect this is what led to my loosing the entire wake up call! Of course, I have no way to confirm, and later on, the front desk claimed that I had never asked for the wakeup call in the first place, so...!

Breakfast and dinner are complementary at this hotel which could be attractive to some. But the breakfast spread is miserly. And though the specified time for the breakfast is 7:30AM onwards, visitors are recommended to not make an appearance before 8:15, or else, you will be spending a good 30 - 45 minutes watching waiters preparing cutlery, ambling around with various vessels totally oblivious to your presence, and one or two of them even squabbling over watching tamil comedy programs on the television in the restaurant (yes, I mean the waiters, not other room guests!). The complementary buffet dinner spread is slightly better, but the quality of fare is still way below par. My suggestion to guests is that they give this whole restaurant a very wide berth, and enjoy the fantastic south indian food available at various other outlets like the the Saravanas, not very far from this hotel. Once you have factored out the restaurant and the miserable room service, this hotel becomes an attractive proposition, with the comfort and cleanliness of the rooms.

Overall, the property is excellent. Location is perfect, the rooms are excellent, facilities are adequate, accommodation is very comfortable, but you realize pretty early on during your stay that the whole hotel is thoroughly mismanaged, if at all there is someone managing it. So, for those of you who are just interested in a clean comfortable room, and will find your food elsewhere, this hotel is worth a try.

The best thing about this hotel is that it is located at the prime and happening place of chennai. All the locations are easily accessible from the hotel. Value added services are bit poor and also availability is also a concern because of the limited rooms.
