“Hotel Pandian has been my home in Chennai for 20 years.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

I have been leading student immersion tours of India since 1993 and I have stayed at Hotel Pandian every year. It is conveniently located to Egmore rail station, which connects you to every part of the city.
The rooms in the hotel have been newly renovated and tastefully designed. They are clean and comfortable (my students this year declared the beds at Hotel Pandian the most comfortable so far . . . . and this is our sixth city).
The restaurant has also been newly renovated. While the service can be a little slow, the food is always delicious and well prepared.
Because of my long-standing relationship with Hotel Pandian, the management treats me (and my students) like family. We are welcomed and shown genuine south Indian hospitality.
I will always stay at Hotel Pandian when in Chennai

This is a good place to stay and explore the city.comfortable rooms and good food, location is an added advantage that was accessible to all city attractions.the city is very crowded and hot still it is fascinating with its ancient charm and welcome.
The rooms were neat and clean and has all the amenities for my short stay. I like to come back again.

Hotel Pandian is situated in a congested, noisy part of Chennai but has advantage of being close to Chennai Egmore railway station. As members of a conducted group tour my wife and I stayed for two nights at this hotel. To begin with there was lot of argument & confusion in room allotment. As a result it took nearly an hour to get a room allotted. The room we eventually got was too small and faced the street. It was non A/C and but more importantly had NO VENTILATION AT ALL. As a result it soon turned into a pressure cooker even during a February night! Add to that constant honking of horns till almost 2 am in the night, as goods carrying trucks and large tourist buses struggled to make way through congested kennet lane and we could hardly get good sleep. All in all, it was NOT an experience to be cherished in memory.

Room Tip: Insist on room on the East side (away from the front lane).

The reservation and check-in procedure and hospitality was great ......Neat and clear rooms for a brief business trip at reasonable rates in the heart of the city...... They provide a wi-fi card which can be used for one hour net usage.....Breakfast is Good.

I went to pandian two times when I was little and all I remember are really good things.
This place is the memory of my childhood, spending a vacation in India with my parents for the first time.
I loved the food. If they still have it you MUST try their “Mushroom Curry”. And there are other restaurants if you want to try different tastes.

This is a terrific little hotel, just off the main road and walking distance from Egmont Station. Very friendly staff and a good restaurant attached to the hotel where you can have breakfast (included in room price). I had a non a/c room as I don't like sleeping in a/c. The only downside of this is that non a/c rooms have ventilation openings in the walls & this can allow mosquitos in. Price was just over £10 per night. Rooms were clean, wth TV and usually had hot water, though Chennai is prone to power cuts every day, so backup generator can take a little while to kick in. WiFi is available but is only free for a short while then you have to pay. Street outside is busy, so be prepared for a noisy street during the day, but not a problem if you are happy to mix with the locals. For those looking for a comfortable indian experience rather than a western style stay, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for sheer value and location.
