great hotel in the centre of Chennai , a busy city that has become a melting pop of european and indian culture.

I spent 3 weeks here in July 07 , the food was great, plenty of choice , the difference between a UK 'curry' and an authentic Indian is amazing, you will never want take away again !

room - the room was kept very tidy and of a good size. TV fridge / min bar that was refreshed every day. Bathroom was spotless and roomy, no balcony , not that you would want one with the hussel and bussel of Chennai outside, the view was also of a back alley come derlict hotel.

Staff., alway helpful and very polite

resturants, 3 a noodle bar, a Thai which was very good, and the main hotel resturant, which was very good , no problems with at all.

Hotel bar , a little dark and trying to be something that its not, very masculine , noisy and full of smoke.

Pool, great location on the roof with great views of the sun set and chennai , drinks and snacks availabe on request along with the weekly roof top 'BBQ'

All in all a good stay

This quirky hotel was certainly unique in its styling and decoration. I took this as a good thing. The hotel seemed aged and in the need of a modern renovation, however, as it was a bit worn. Everything was clean. Breakfast was excellent.

During my monthlong stay in India, this was one of my most pleasant stays. Prices are negotiable, I was easily able to negotiate a 30% room discount over the phone, and a substantial upgrade on the car/driver service. All staff have very good spoken English.

Even so, I felt the hotel was a little overpriced, and felt a little silly paying the same rates for services in Chennai as I pay at the Intercontinental in Chicago. This is probably because the hotel is legendary among South Indians - the man on the street sees it as the hotel of stars. Some of the history and film appeal may be more enjoyed by a South Indian, who would no doubt to pay a premium.

All staff and service, with the exception of the check-in/check-out staff were excellent. When I check-in/check-out of a five star hotel I expect a pleasant smile!!!

This hotel is very pleasant to stay in. With the old posters of the Tamil movie industry all around you. Very unique deco.
