We second a majority of the reviews I saw. Pretty grungy rooms for high prices, service not good, understaffed at the front desk (and not friendly or professional). One plus side was the pool restaurant at night, but next day in daylight we were able to see how worn everything was.

...not when you pay $250 a night and get the service you wouldn't expect from a 2 star hotel. The saving grace (if I can call it that) here is the "leather bar" - mind you only the bar ambience, service is poor with the managers of the bar packing in as many peopl as they can - EVER HEAR OF CODE VIOLATIONS?!?

Oh and the egos of the bartenders are flying through the roof - its as if they are doing you a fvor for drinks you would pay $20 each!! This hotel has gone down the tubes in just 2 years!! Unbeleivable!!!

Not to fret, there are lot of other hotels in the area...the MANAGEMENT needs to wake up from sleeping in their cushy chairs - I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL, uness you ahve money to burn, even in that case, what will you do with bad service!!!!!

The hotel restaurant was quite good, and the staff were extremely helpful. The problem was with the room. The hotel website pictures make the hotel look sleek and modern, but it is pretty far from that, actually. The rooms were dingy, the walls kind of dirty, the ceiling covered in water stains, and everything felt kind of damp. The bathroom flooded every time I took a shower longer than 5 minutes, and the housekeeping replaced the towels and made the bed but did not actually do any cleaning. The towels were of such poor quality that they didn't actually absorb any water--a problem when you're trying to mop up the flood in the bathroom--and left lint all over anything they touched. All of that said, the hotel is not terrible, it's just not nearly as nice as either of the other hotels I stayed in while in Mumbai or Bangalore that were in the same price range. After being in the chaos of the Chennai streets all day, it is important to have a nice room to come back to at the end of the day, and the Park just wasn't quite it.

The Park Chennai looks impressive when you drive up to it, the reception staff make you feel valued, particularly if you are a Starwood cardholder, but the hotel goes down hill as soon as you leave reception. The corridors have old, tired and damp smelling carpets. The Executive room I had smelt damp, the bathroom was dirty and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. This gave the overall room a damp and mouldy smell. The staff were keen to point out the leather, electric massage chair in every room - there were far more important features to fix in the hotel than this. The Executive Club on the "27th Floor" (actually around the sixth floor), was not bad and the finger food served with the complimentary drinks was good enough. Breakfast was standard Western fare. Unlike other reviewers the bed was comfortable and the sheets clean and dry. Overall not very good value for money, but not totally dire.
