“Centrally located.. excellent for business”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

Located about 20 minutes from the Chennai Airport, staying at this property. Very well maintained though it is an old hotel. Lighting could have been better. Food is nothing extraordinary with room service menu very limited for the Indian palate. Restaurants are on the expensive side when compared with other 5 Stars in Chennai. Service is excellent though. Rooms are a little older but sleep quality was very good. Hotel has good prices for Corporates even without a tie-up.

The hotel is dull every where. Not bright lights. Poor service by staff. Not well groomed staff. Hope less lift not functioning for the whole day. No staff attended even after telling. Not value for money. Stay was unpleasant expect good south INDIAN food availability

Room Tip: no need to consider this hotel for business travel

We appreciate you taking a moment to share the feedback from your recent stay here. Let me first apologize as it is clear that your stay with us fell far short of your expectations.
We understand that a major maintenance work was going on during your period of stay and hence the lifts were out of order. We deeply regret the inconvenience.
We are delighted that you enjoyed our South Indian food. Hailing from a culinary conscious city like Madurai, we really appreciate your compliment.
We are glad to inform you that our hotel is going to be renovated, while retaining its warmth and charm, it will be modernized and more comfortable.
We do hope to welcome you back to the Le Royal Meridien in the near future so that you may get a true Le Royal Meridien experience on your next stay with us. Please feel free to contact our executive office for your next visit.
Warm regards

The hotel that time forgot. Unless you like recreating Hitchcock movie sets I recommend you avoid this hotel. The smell of must permeates, the decor is like a shabby deco train (wall panels, old electric, drab lighting), the food was inedible and the grounds poorly kept.

Even if you want Starwoods points, avoid this hotel, stay at the RadisonBlu or Sheraton instead.

Worst business hotel experience in all of India. The drops of "something" on my sheets caused me to sleep in the tub because it was cleaner than the bed. After expressing complete disappointment the staff was unable to find us better rooms or suitable reimbursement for the trouble.

Plus its a terrible location along a main highway.

Room Tip: Don't stay here is the best tip of all. If you must stay ask for a room with natural light - mo...

I can't compare with other 5 stars in Chennai but with some in other cities and this one was not so bad. I read other reviews and I'm surprised critics.

I stayed two times :
rooms were clean. Breakfast is very good and with a lot of choice. 2 fitness - sauna etc.; a swimming pool ..
Staff very kind.
Internet not the best quality and speed but ok.

Room Tip: don(t take room on the 1 first floor on top of the fitness center (1009 or 1011) : the noise is imp...

I was thoroughly disappointed with the front office manager on duty on May 26th. I was just passing through Chennai for a night and decided to stay at the hotel near the airport so that I can get some rest and take an early morning flight to Delhi.

I checked into the hotel after attending an event in Chennai. The front office manager Sai Ram or Sri Ram was so rude that I checked out of the hotel at midnight and went to the Marriott which is much further from the airport.

Being a woman in a foreign country, this hotel not only cased me inconvenience but also put me at a security risk. I am really ashamed to be associated with Starwood properties. I have been a gold/platinum member for many years. I would strongly advise any foreigners to save their money and not pay 14,000 rupees which is equivalent to $250 to stay at this hotel. I assumed that I would receive the same service as I normally do at other Starwood properties but this is the wrong assumption.

Dear Ms Nan0123,

I have just read your review on Trip Advisor and am appalled to hear that Mr. Sairam was rude to you.

I emphasize entirely with your thoughts and feelings as I too travel quite extensively and understand very well the need to feel secure. Actually we have a special "ladies program" in place which includes making our lady guests feel safe, secure and at home and also includes ladies amenities. Obvioulsy we failed miserably to make you feel at home and enjoy the true Le Meridien experience.

Please rest assured, this behaviour and attitude is not tolerated and I really apologize. Certainly I shall take this further with Mr. Sairam after having spoken to you to attain all the details.

Sincerely
Jennifer Buhr

Very recently we went to Le Royal Meridien for Dinner. It has a spread of veg and non veg food and enjoyed every item that we took in our plate. They are friendly and very helpful. The person, whom I spoke with, while booking the table, was very friendly and met us when we were there and took us around to other restaurants that are available within the hotel and with information related to it. We would love to go again for "Navrathna" hall to enjoy the bharathnatyam and the food together..
