Visited & stayed in this hotel for our National Convention during 7 to 9th of this month. Firstly its not very far from Airport...around 6 kms i think and we took around 30 mins to reach there. Looks like a sparkling Mahal from Outside.really unique and so beautiful just like Taj palace Mumbai...stand out from the rest !!
We had a smooth check in...good thing was even though there were around 1000 delegates to check in at same time we hardly had to wait as they organised it very well...really appreciated.
We had executive club rooms which were on the East wing. The rooms were neat and tidy as expected, though i feel its a bit smaller in size...they could have cut down the bathroom size and may be made the rooms bit more spacious. Rooms had everything a 5 star property should have and yes it has a unique ipad controlling device...from lights to who is on your door u can do just with a slide of ipad...really unique.
I also noticed the Hotel has 4 entrances on all 4 sides - why??? However i learned that there's a story behind the whole thing... And that starts with the name - Chola, named after the renowned, brave royalty of Tamil Nadu. They had built several several temples, all across Tamil Nadu, the main ones being Brahadeeswara Temple, Gangai Konda Cholapuram etc etc. The entire architechture, interiors were all done taking inspirations from the Chola temples. Well, sculpting is not even spared at the mezzanine wall and the verticals of the staircase!!! Even the chandeliers don't look too western, it has a eastern touch to it.
Back to the Hotel...hotel is so so vast, that you might get lost, yeah, I got lost!!! But then, don't worry. There are inbuilt kiosks that guide you to where you wanna go!!!!! There are gyms, 3 swimming pools, 1 spa called Kayakalp.
Well now the Food....we had buffet lunches and Dinner at rajendra hall but TBH was a bit dissapointed...not saying the food was bad but we had expected little better coz its the ITC having one of the best restaurants like Peshwari though we didnt go there..but i m sure it wud be same as Mumbai's peshwari..Though i must say the Breakfast next morning was excellent...had everything from Croissants to Doughnuts to cereals to best South Indian vadas and Idlis u would have tasted....we even had a cocktail party in the evening which was ok too.
Lastly must say thanks to the great front desk and house keeping staff who were extremely courteous and helpful in everything I asked for....
A truly memorable and a great stay...wish it wud have never ended....but it had too but will surely be back soon :P
