“So much time waiting for our order ...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

The place is nice, but :
- parking is very bad,
- we waited for more than one hour our orders
If you are not in a hurry it can be a good choice but i do not advise it.

“One of the best restuarants been to in India!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

The restuarant is brilliant- this coming from someone who explores new food joints every weekend!! It is by far one of the best concept restuarant i have been to in India. The resturant has beautiful white canopies made to sit with candlelights and a varied cuisine. We went for a romantic dinner which my husband had planned for us. There are cats around in the restuarant, so cat lovers have a blast. The chef is awesome at whatever he cooks and has a special touch in presenting the items.
The only con if at all is that since the restuarant is outdoor seating it isnt air conditioned, though fans and coolers do the job just right!!
Keep up the good work Kipling Cafe!!

“50/50”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

It's not safe 100%, but most of time is ok. Be very carefully with seafood.
I know look nice but after 2-3 hours, :-( not pleasant experience in bathroom for all night.

“Something Different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Kipling Cafe is a little oasis along the ECR. An escape from the frantic city of Chennai. As soon as you step onto the property it's like walking into a fairy lit holiday resort. There is a bar area off to the right and the main restaurant is straight ahead. We were seated in one of the outdoor huts. It's an enchanting surrounding and a very welcome break from the city. Kipling Cafe have done very well here in the space they have created.

The food was up to scratch as well. Big selection on the menu offering continental selections and s number of Thai dishes also. We ordered the bruschetta and the humous and dippers to share as starters. We got two big platefuls. Around 8-9 small bit of bruschetta and humous with lots of crunchy bread crackers to dip. It almost seemed like a cut up pizza base, but it worked! And they were only too happy to bring us some more of the delicious humous when we ran out. For mains I had the three cheese pizza which had a really great flavour and I finished it all even though I was full. I suspect the base was pre bought, but it was very crispy and tasted good so I didn't mind. Kipling Cafe also sells alcohol which is an unexpected bonus in Chennai outside the hotels.

Word of warning, it is quite difficult to find and poorly signposted so be careful

“Great Place, OK Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

This place on the ECR is a little gem in terms of location. It's secluded, serene and beautifully done. I though wasn't here just for the place, but also for food. And that is where it gets a bit disappointing. In a place that's close to the ocean and where local fish is found aplenty, it's highly annoying to learn that they only serve imported frozen fish (the basa fish). So I went with shrimp, the ones that were referred to as fresh catch. It was just about ok, nothing that would get me back here. But from what I know people don't go here just for the food and so for a romantic evening this would be a 5/5 but for the hungry lot who crave good food and location, 3/5 or maybe 3.5/5. But then again the location was nice and maybe I'd come back here and try their meat dishes.
