“Delightful as ever!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

It's great to revisit a classic after a gap of nearly 7 years and find that the food and service quality is as sterling as before. Consistent food at comfort prices makes this one experience worth coming back for. Would recommend you do try the chicken al la Kiev and don't miss the egg mayonnaise salad... You handle get these in any restaurants these days.

“Good location with average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Our driver took us on a main street which leads upto the old city.We had dinner there and the place was totally packed. We did have to wait for a table for about 10 minutes. The ambience was bright.but the food turned out to be average-some good some not so good.Their soups and starters are tasty .All in all one can visit this place.

“worst service ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

The only reason why this restaurant even receives one star is because TripAdvisor requires this minimum. The food was hands down the most expensive we saw in India, yet the service was the absolute worst. The experience was so bad that we left and ate at McDonald's instead. Perhaps someday the service might improve, but in the meantime, we strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant.

“Still the best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

It's difficult to be completely objective reviewing a place you've grown up eating at. I therefore took one star off my rating! The fourth generation of our family now eats at Niro's (on visits to Jaipur) and likes the food every bit as much as the first (or for that matter, the next two) did.

I think the place is a victim of its own reputation. Quite simply, its the best multi - cuisine restaurant in town - in 2013, as it was in 1949. My take below:

1. Individually, there are better Indian, Continental and Chinese restaurants in Jaipur and elsewhere in India. I'm yet to come across one that does as much justice to each in one place.
2. The menu in any one category is relatively limited, but you'll struggle to pick an item that's sub par or not 'authentic'.
3. This is a popular place with people from across the globe. Expect to wait if you haven't booked in advance. It's on a high street, expect to struggle with parking, especially at night.
4. Service is efficient and polite, but not as warm as many new places trying to make a name for themselves - there are guests waiting to get a seat, folks need to get a move on.
5. They can (and do) have the rare off day, when the pressure gets to one of the staff and the guest has a sub par experience (wrong bill, impolite server etc). Don't give up on it, revisit.
6. It's not cheap but certainly no more expensive than restaurants of the same calibre elsewhere in India, especially the metros and bigger cities.

They do Deliveries, so you could order in as well and avoid the hassle.

Some of the family favourites here are: Laal Maas, Butter chicken, Russian Salad, Baked Alaska, Chicken in Garlic Sauce with Egg Fried Rice, Paneer dishes and Malai Kofta and the Indian breads. If you try any of these, do let me know how you liked it!

“Rude management”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

We stopped in at Niro's for a snack. The waiter was very nice, polite and attentive. Food was overpriced and not that tasty. When my credit card was declined, one of the managers, pushed past the waiter, ripped the receipt into pieces , threw it on the table and announced loudly "declined!". I asked him to try again as the card had worked previously but he refused and demanded another card or cash. He was the rudest person I met in India and I could see the waiter was embarassed as he kept apologising to us behind the other guy's back. Not a great experience and I would choose to go next door next time as there food and customer service were far better.
