“Great value --Not just a backpackers' dive”

At around $15 per night, the Atithi Guest House has got to be the best value I have ever received for accommodations. This is not just a backpackers' dive, although that is generally the clientele. It is a clean, comfortable hotel with an excellent little restaurant serving delicious paratha, breakfast, etc. There is also a small room with Internet access. The Atithi also has a rooftop deck, and although there is not much to see up there (just a view of the modern commercial district of Jaipur), it is very relaxing.

The highlight of this hotel, though, is the staff. They were extremely helpful in planning tours of Jaipur and otherwise helping one navigate what can be a daunting place. The owner and his staff are people who take great pride in their hotel and their city, and it shows.

Obviously I do not know what happened at the Atithi to the previous reviewer, but this was not my experience at all. I think that any amount of time in India is bound to lead one to view any misunderstanding as an attempted rip-off. It seems to me that the owner negotiates the rates based on supply and demand, and that can lead to suspicion. If you want to lock in a good rate over email before you arrive, print out the email and show it to the desk clerk when you check in.

I found all of the staff at the Atithi to be honest, and I would highly recommend this hotel.

To be sure to have a room during the new years period we booked a room through an email.
We agreed to have a room for Rs 650, but when we arrived they offered us a room for Rs 1.000.
After a lot of discussion (3 hours), we finally got a room for Rs 700, although they tried to tell us for 3 hours they had no rooms left.
Finally, the room was pretty good but overpriced!!!!!!

“The place to stay in Jaipur”

This guest house is really clean, well located and perfectly positioned close to the railway station. The welcome is perfect and you can even get good thali on the rooftop of the hotel. Internet access available, too bad you can't pay your bill by credit card. Anyhow, this place is well referenced in Guide du Routard and Lonely Planet.....and they deserve it.

We stayed at the Atithi Guesthouse for one night in April and I wish it had been longer. The hotel is clean and welcoming, the staff are very helpful, friendly and considerate. They put a third bed in a room for us after we had arrived very late with no fuss or bother. They also showed us several rooms to choose from.

The room and the bathroom were spotlessly clean, and we had a good breakfast in the restaurant. Although Jaipur is pretty busy and noisy, the Atithi Guesthouse was very quiet and we had a lovely lunch sat in the shade in the garden.

Many thanks for an excellent stay, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a budget or mid-range option in Jaipur - for the money it is fantastic.

Spotlessly clean, with attached bath. Good ambience, friendly staff. Very good value for money. Relaxed roof top restaurant, catering western and Indian food. Net onsite.
Highly recommended.
