“Nice guest house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

The over here in shahar palace was really great. its like stay in home. a nice lone and greenness in front of room. Discussions with Cornell saab was great. and stay looks very secure, piece full, relaxed if u are with partner, so it is great palace for couples. I will strongly recommend it for any couple. the is some things need to improve. Food cast is little bit inflated may be they are compensating a relative low cast of stay through it. Phone was only incoming but not was outgoing if you want any service. Room light was more of purely for romance and little bit for foreigner friendly as it were dark and red, there should be at least one white tubelightes also in room.
Overall the negative is very small front of +ve ones.. it was one of great stay for me....

Room Tip: Try to book AC room.. as it is warm weather in day time in Jaipur..

The rooms are a bit old school, but they're clean and functional and for the money, you couldn't ask for more. The AC works well, the food is delicious (ask for Indian breakfast) and the staff are awesome. The Colonel and his wife are charming and helpful. Make sure to ask the Colonel if he'll call his auto rickshaw driver for you. He'll take you around all day and keep you safely away from the touts and the crap-mongers.

I have just finished visiting Jaipur for five days. I stayed at Shahar Palace and it was quite simply a joy to stay there. The weather wasn't particularly nice whilst I was there but fortunately I was able to relax in the wonderful setting of this well run family hotel. I had my own balcony which had excellent service from the kitchen downstairs. I had the Indian Special Thali almost every because it was so good and excellent value for money. The couple that run the hotel, Colonel Singh and his wife were both so friendly and always keen to help me with my travel plans. I also had the pleasure of meeting their son, Fateh, who was a really interesting and well traveled man, and again more than happy to give advice about the area.

I cannot recommend this place enough. If you are visiting Jaipur, definitely check in here.

I really really wanted to write a review for them on trip advisor. seriously the best heritage hotel man. i mean it was so beautiful and serene. so calm woah i love it. the best part is that it is a family run hotel so they took a very very good care of me. can't express the feelings in words. i m really delighted to stay in such a beautiful place.

Room Tip: you can choose their super delux room, check out their site its really affordable.

On a whim we found this place. It's not in the best location, not in the tourist area, not in the backpacking area, just in a residential area on some side street. And that's the only negative, which can easily be offset by all of the pluses. First, there is no backpack area, and with the Colonels tuk tuk guys, who are so much cheaper and reliable then any one else we encountered, you have access to the whole city. The food on site is great, I think I had mac and cheese every day, twice. The rooms have AC. The plumbing worked. And after fighting the madness of India all day it was nice to pull down the long driveway and into the lush garden area and relax with a beer. The Col was always around and shared many great war stories with us. A true gentleman and it was a real pleasure to get to know him. We were going to stay for 3 days, stayed for 7 instead. Just loved the place.

Room Tip: All the rooms face the garden, I liked the upper floor, better view.

I stay here for just one night. It was perfect. Beautiful house, very clean, they have internet service. Its a very quiet place. Owner`s wife made me breakfast. He picked me up from the train station. And he arranged with someone to give a ride for Jaipur. Sahar Palace was the best place I stay in India.
