Upon arrival in this (so long) grandeur heritage hotel not feeling all to well due to the infamous indian belly, the staff brought me some sweet ginger tea. Lovely. Just as all the colors in the high ceiling rooms and the peacocks in the garden (they didn't keep me up tho!). Although the hotel wasn't as alife as I expected I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast is nothing special, however the area you' re having breakfast in is absolutely stunning. Look around! Also I would not bother eating twice in the garden, with the loud play.

A very impressive hotel built in the late 20's as an opulent family home for a Indian General and which boasts an outdoor pool complete with peacocks, which may keep you awake most of the night. It is pretty as a picture and would recommend as a base. However, i do have to question the hygene of food preperation. was violenty sick after eating some fruit and these were peeled fruit so nothing to do with them being washed in local water which begs the question where else would there be contamination.....

Beautiful hotel and grounds with a wonderful sense of history and charm. The staff were friendly, efficient and accommodating. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal sitting in the garden restaurant watching the in-house entertainment. The room was delightful - clean, comfortable and well equipped. Lovely bathroom with nice hot shower. Our only disappointment was that we'd only booked for one night - would have loved to have stayed longer!

We stayed here two nights in February while on an Exodus small group tour. It is a funky, interesting hotel, with a beautiful entranceway and peacocks wandering about. All food was good. Entranceway patio was a great place for a drink.

Would not hesitate to return.

We went to Narain Niwas just after the New Year. There were 10 of us, five adults and five children including two infants and we stayed 3 nights. The rooms were very nice (they were described as pool facing but were actually the closest to the pool which wasn't heated) and had the old world charm with that aristocratic flair which one normally looks for at all heritage hotels in Rajasthan. The best part was the open lawn right in front of our doors where peacocks milled about. A small aviary was also close by which the kids loved. The staff was very accommodative and friendly. The in house entertainment was quite good as well. The only problems that we had was of warm water on the first day because (we were told) water heating at the hotel is solar. The other problem which only my sister & brother-in-law had on the first night was a mouse in their room! The hotel offered them a room upgrade to compence but we declined. Such things are not completely unexpected at old properties like Narain Niwas so its par for course. I'll give the place a decent 7.5/10.

Room Tip: The more you pay, the better you get in terms of size but not necessarily location!

We loved the hotel at first sight. Away from the busy road, there was no traffic noise at all. The garden was lovely and we had a simple but good lunch there. In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant, in total 3 times and always excellent. Very kind staff in the restaurant who gave good advice and even recognised us when we returned to the hotel after 2 weeks.
Returning from the city in the late afternoon it is great pleasure to have a drink on the veranda. That was also the place to use wifi, at least if it was available.
Rooms were very pleasant as well.

Only remark: the staff at the reception desk was not that friendly. You did not feel welcome and you even had the idea you were trouble, when asking about wifi or so.

Staying at this hotel is a real treat. The grounds are gorgeous, perfect for strolling and sitting. The pool is lovely, and divine in the summer. Delicious food and cocktails are available. The rooms are very comfortable and have terrific furniture and fixtures. This is a place where one can really relax and indulge. Once you enter the gates, you are completely enveloped in the atmosphere of the haveli. It is peaceful retreat from a bustling city, except for the call of the peacocks!
