“An Urban Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

I am a repeat visitor to Megh Niwas and always look forward to, and thoroughly enjoy my stay. The Colonel and Mrs Singh are wonderful hosts and the staff are excellent. It is a peaceful and gracious oasis.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter than at the front.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Meghniwas! The location was good. The people were very nice and hospitable. Our children loved playing with their dog Benji. The food was delicious. The rooms were nice and spacious. I really liked that it was a family owned place. They took pride in cleanliness and making you feel welcome and taken care of. They had a nice pool which we didn't get to use b/c it was too cold when we visited. The price was good as well. We would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If you aren't traveling with kids I believe you could get a nice room by the pool. For liabilit...

I visited Jaipur with my wife and 3 year old daughter and I am so glad i found this cozy , niche hotel. its like a mini hotel/ B&B in an excellent neighborhood. The property itself is beautiful, clean and comfortable. It has a beautifully maintained lawn and a swimming pool. The owners are always there to help. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The locality has a lot of good eating options . Overall it was a pleasure to be here.

We have stayed at the Meghniwas several times over the last five years and it is every bit as hospitable as the overwhelming majority of guests seem to suggest. It is our default option for Jaipur, the first few times, because we were traveling with dogs and it was one of the few hotels in Jaipur that accepted them. That aside, the garden is lovely, the service prompt and efficient and the warmth and friendliness of the owners is unrivaled. Our children Magnus and Beatrice miss Benjy the spaniel dearly. I so enjoyed my stay at Megh Niwas! It is truly an oasis of green grass, quiet and calm in bustling Jaipur. The staff was friendly and keen to help and my room cosy, spotlessly clean and well-equipped. Since I visited during the winter I particularly enjoyed the electric heater next to my bed and the hot showers. The location is good too, in a nice area and not far from the Old City. Admittedly, it is a little pricey for being India but for me it was well worth the money. Same goes for the meals I had in the hotel: not the cheapest, but a very good value for the money. The peacocks, the smell of wood smoke from the evening fires lit by the pool and the delirious cocker spaniel puppy added to the charm of the place! I will definitely return to Megh Niwas and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a temporary home in Jaipur.

I've been staying at Megh Nivas for a couple of decades; it only gets better! The meals are wholesome and delicious; the ambiance is peaceful and friendly. It is a perfect base for seeing Jaipur; equally a perfect place to spend the day enjoying the garden, the wireless, and the company of interesting fellow travelers.

What a wonderful and charming place to escape the madness of sightseeing in Jaipur. It's a little oasis just out of the centre of town. Not much parking space though. Immediately on arrival I was given the wifi password which connected immediately and was nice and fast - you can imagine how happy this made me feel :)
The hotel owner Mrs Singh and 'The Colonel' are wonderful hosts. The staff are polite and convivial with good manners. There's a cocker spaniel called Benji and a Persian cat called Soonami. Both very friendly with guests if not with each other!
The food was fantastic, better than the restaurants we went to in town. We met many loyal guests who had been coming to the hotel, some for 20 years! It's not hard to see why. The swimming pool set in the wonderful garden courtyard looked clean but it was too cold to go for a swim. We spent a couple of mornings just hanging out in the garden having chai or a drink in the evenings.
Our room was spacious, perfectly looked after with a wonderful view over the back Garden and pool. I believe the rooms on the other side are a bit noises due to proximity to the Jai Singh highway. The hotel has beautiful marble features throughout. They have renovated and modernised with great sensitivity. It is a cosy and romantic place with plants everywhere. Very relaxing. Would absolutely return.

Room Tip: A room over the courtyard has the best view and is more quiet than the other side of the hotel. Has...
