“Decent Hotel......Reasonable Rates.....Not so convienient Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

This hotel is located on Amer road which is 8 kms from Railway station. There are just 2 or 3 restuarants in the nearby vicinity. There arent any good shops for shopping.
The hotel overall is good, i beleive value for money hotel. Only problem that I had was with the pressure of the shower and the hot water. It was hot but not as hot as I had expected. Also the temperature was not same throughtout. initially its was nice hot water but slowly the temperature reduced and the water was lukewarm.

Besides that everthing was fine.....the breakfast was good (especially for Indians)

In Brief....

Good:
Free Wifi
Good Breakfast
Good off-road parking
Disabled Access toilet on ground floor
Good linen

Bad:
Slow wifi
Very poor, even dangerous efforts at disabled access.
Front entrance slope too steep and no hand-rail.
No disabled parking space.
Disabled access toilet is far from the foyer via dangerous slopes, steps and is too small.
Pool, and outside lawn only accessible by steps (pool nearly impossible to get to).
Mattress too soft... like sinking into a hole!
Big bathroom but bath-tub and door to narrow so useless to wheelchair user.

Disabled Access:
We phoned the hotel to check whether they had disabled access room. The confirmed and we booked. When we arrived we found the hotel had a ridiculously steep ramp down to the lift lobby - 14º which is about 24%!! If they where constructing a practice luge for the Indian winter olympics team I could understand but as a slope for wheelchair users it is just dangerous. When we got to the room we found that the bathroom door was too narrow and it had a bath-tub. I phoned reception and explained that we had not been given a disabled access room! They then told us the disabled access room had been already occupied.

We asked them to bring us a plastic chair and a bucket so my wife could take wash as she could not get in the bath tub.... they brought plastic stools of various sizes. They were trying but obviously had no idea about the needs of disabled people who cannot use theirs legs otherwise they would realise how useless a small stool was to someone who is paraplegic!!

It he morning the same problem... no plastic chair available.

The ground floor toilet which should be near the lobby was right at the back. You need to go down the dangerous 24% slope, up two steps and the make your way towards the back door. There you will find a very small toilet. It is just about accessible but has some serious errors. The door has a sprung-loaded closer which is almost impossible for someone in a wheelchair to keep open and manoeuvre their wheelchair in. There was sufficient space next to the toilet but it would be very difficult to get their with the lack of space to move around. The toilet seat too low. The toilet roll paper would be behind the now parked wheelchair and anyhow behind the user and so not really accessible.

Bedroom:
The bedroom was a good size and the bed had good linen but the mattress was too soft and you feel like you are sinking into it.

The TV was ok and the channels included some international news channels.

The AC blowers are too noisy and there is a lot of noise from the road (road facing rooms).

It had the usual furniture which was ok, tea making facilities and safe for valuables.

Restaurant:
There is a nice restaurant with good furniture. Outside there is a lawn but there are more steps to this. The food was better than average and sufficient variety. Particularly good was the masala idli.

Swimming pool.
Good small swimming pool with good quality furniture for lounging. However impossible to access with a wheelchair.

We would like to thank you for having stayed at Hotel Holiday Inn Jaipur and sharing your comments on Trip Advisor.

We have noted with concern your comments regarding your adverse experience and I personally assure you that the same has been viewed very seriously. Although we strive our best to provide quality services to the utmost satisfaction of our valued guests, but there are times when we fall short of their expectations, due to various reason.

With regards to your room reservations we have checked at our end and your booking was done through an agent and unfortunately it was never mentioned that you require a disabled room otherwise we would have turned down the booking as our disabled room was already booked. Your booking was for a deluxe room and same was upgraded to the suite room..

Once again we are sorry for the shortfalls you have experienced during your stay with us. Your comments are highly valuable to us and will assist us in our continuous efforts to maintain and improve the service level we aim for.

Assuring you of our best services in future and shall like to welcome you back to Holiday Inn Jaipur, whenever you desire in future.

Sincerely Yours,

Stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in December '13. Room size: comfortable for 3, Location: quite and closer to lake and forts, Staff: courtious, Wi-Fi connectivity: very poor. Live music played with "Jal Tarang" in the evening - very soothing to the ears and very relaxing. Public transport available just outside the hotel for visiting forts, lake and even the attractions within the city. Value for Money.

Room Tip: Rooms having window towards the atrium will require the curtains to be closed all the time to ensure...

This is a such a rude, unfriendly hotel that you couldn't recommend it to anyone. The staff at the front desk can't even be bothered smiling at guests unless the manager is looming somewhere nearby. They turn all the lights off to save money, making the whole place look dim and uninviting. Still, I suppose it's good for the environment. They certainly aren't adding to carbon levels with all the lights turned out.

The bread and butter of this hotel is clearly tour groups. Most evenings they have a couple of tour buses in the front car park. Once a tour bus pulls up, they turn some lights on and it stops looking like an abandoned warehouse for a while. They don't care about individual guests because all their money comes off tour groups, and they just focus on them. Terrible breakfast too. There are much better options in Jaipur. Sorry we stayed here.

We would like to thank you for taking your valuable time and effort in sharing your feedback as it enables us to measure and improve our performance in our quest of providing you excellent hospitality.

We have noted your feedback regarding the staff interaction and have been taken up with the team and it is our constant endeavor to provide the finest of products and service in line with the modern hospitality and we would like to assure you that all steps have been taken to ensure non-recurrence.

We would also like to inform you that there is no such practice where additional lights to be switched on, on arrival of the groups. Sometime there is a on and off in lights because of frequent power cut from electricity department and hotel has to shift from regular supply to genset and again back to regular supply.

We value your patronage and look forward to welcoming you to Holiday Inn Jaipur again.

Thanking you,

I stayed in this hotel during our golden triangle visit and we found this hotel far better than the other cities all services are provided as per holiday inn standards. Good and spacious room nice restaurents and pool. Nice and small gym staff was very kind. Do recommend this hotel as it is located very near to all the places to visit like city palace and hawa mahal. Main city markets were located at walking distance.
