“Lots of character”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

Maybe one of the best options in Jaipur in this category. Attentive, friendly (and efficient!) service at reception but also in the restaurants. Great roof terrace with lots of space to get away from the noise of the "more-of-the-same" folklore - and the (preferred) option of having à-la-carte instead of the buffet. Nice food presentation with good quality food. The rooms? Original, clean and spacious (we had a Shahpura Suite). The only negative remark: On check-out we left the tip for the room-boy on the bed, as we could not see him in order to hand it over personally. Unfortunately, we had to discover that a supervisor got first into our vacant room and snatched the money, leaving nothing to the person for whom it was intended. I was able to retrieve the money and hand it to the person who deserved it...

Stunning Heritage Haveli in Jaipur in a very good and quiet Position. A little run down in some areas (Reception), but the rooms are lovely. The staff are all over friendly and always ready to assist in any way. A Little hint, when you want to leave a tip for the room Boy, give it to him personally. I cought the 'floor manager' pocketing the whole tip for himself although he did nothing for us personally. I can highly recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Jaipur. We will certainly go back there when we are in Rajasthan next.

Room Tip: Make sure your tip for the Room-boy goes to him and not the Supervisor.

This is a very pleasant hotel in a quiet residential suburb. It is a beautifully restored haveli that, once upon a time, would have been in countryside or a village. We were upgraded to a suite which was very spacious and well equipped but very dark. Food was pleasant but nothing out of the ordinary ( thanks for cooking my gluten free pasta). If you want to experience more of this city stay somewhere more central.

Very nice place, we were upgraded to Shapura Suite and no extra charge simpliy because one was availble when we arrived! Staff very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. We had an early start so packed a breakfast together for us. Possibly not my taste in a packed breakfast but kept the hunger pangs away!

Really nice place, even with the basic suite rooms, which were fine - good size, equipped wth fridge and wifi. Hotel was quite grand in its 'public' areas and staff were very obliging (Eric, the customer service manager, may look as if he's straight out of a bad movie, but he's helpful, friendly and, OK, looking for a tip. But not a bad bloke at all!). The son of the owner is charming and mans the front desk, working endless hours and endlessly helpful. The restaurant (great rooftop area with entertainment) was excellent. Food really tasty and well-enough priced. All in all, a very good stay.

We spent 2 nights here towards the end of a month long stay in India. Shahpura House is a very nice heritage hotel with amazing décor and comfortable beds. The poolside area is a nice oasis after visiting the busy streets & sights of Jaipur and the hotel is well located in a quiet neighbourhood but still close to the main part of town.
We visited during Diwali and the hotel was decorated with lights which added to the atmosphere.
