“Excellent Heritage Hotel in Jaipur”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

Stayed here two nights, 17th & 18th February 2013. I believe there around 38 rooms. We had Room 115 on the top floor (no lifts). Not sure if this was a suite room, but had a nice seating area. Very nice large room, good bathroom and excellent shower. Smallish wardrobe space. Our friends had Room 118, also on top floor and it was gorgeous. Safes in room. Free wifi with good reception in lounge areas of hotel. Fully licensed small bar, Drink & wine prices reasonable. There is a very pleasant open roof terrance where you can have dinner but it was too chilly the evenings we were there. Dining room is pleasant, and a la carte food is good. Reasonable choice at breakfast buffet. There is a very pleasant swimming pool, but limited rather narrow seating space around it. Drinks & snacks can be served round the pool.
All the staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive. A good stay in a quiet area, would stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 nights, in December 2012. The hotel is nice and well maintained. We had a suite which was absolutely gorgeous. The bathroom was huge and it looked as it was newly fitted. The shower was clean with instant hot water, and there was plenty of bright white towels also. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a buffet with hot and cold selections, correct. We wait a little bit too much in the morning for a chai, but the restaurant was full of people, so we understand. To visit the city, you will need a taxi or a rickshaw, but there are plenty of them. They do not provide a room for the driver (this is a minus, if you rent a car and you have a driver…)

Very average room. No toilet paper in the bathroom on arrival and shower clogged up with limescale so just a dribble. The same for the wash basin tap which was loose. No natural light and very dark, no writing desk. Management has made the awful decision to only provide complimentary drinking water on the arrival day. So mean given the room price. Pool pleasant but small with barely any space to relax. Rooftp restaurant is massively over-priced but offers nice views and a nice breeze. No fitness centre and staff friendly but tips driven. Internet connection was awful although complimentary.

The location is okay but a bit far out. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place but I did see some of the better rooms which looked much better. Our friends had a much better room. All depends which room you get.

Shahpura House was a very interesting and satisfying place to stay for three nights. A new place done in heritage style, it still had lots of character, partly through its different levels and its twists and turns of corridors and stairs. The service was excellent and the food (rather dearer than elsewhere) was good. Our room was attractive and very pleasant.

Excellent room and very large , even had ESPN sport so what more could one want. Restaurant was very good and staff extreamly helpful. Well worth a visit.. Bathroom was very large and looked as though it had recently been re-done.

When we first arrived, Eric welcomed us with great warmth and enthusiasm: he is as colorful and wonderful as the hotel itself. The decor is gracefully "over-the-top", yet elegant, but we came to love and admire it. Our room was huge, full of great amenities from large closet to comfortable settee and coffee table, to huge "triple" (or so it seemed) bed. The staff, from the person who sweeps floors to the manager, are warm, friendly, helpful; we really enjoyed the dining-room, and appreciated grabbing a little snack at anytime of day. All meals were delicious, abundant, varied. Thank you Eric and Shahpura House.

After an (expensive) stay in the Samode Palace we selected the Shapura as a base in Jaipur. Nice neighbourhood, not a lot of space around it but well situated. Pool area small but sufficient to relax after sightseeing, though weather too cool when we stayed. The hotel's greatest asset met us right after we had arrivied - it is the Guest Relations Manager Eric Williams - he demonstrates that working for decades in the service/travel industry does not mean one has to become jaded. He is full with enthusiasm and immediately puts you at ease with respect to all possible problems you may face to get your feet on the ground in the hotel and in Jaipur!! Had a very nice room on top (504). Had dinner every night in the roof-top restaurant, very nice, wife had a massage and it was excellent and good value compared to Delhi hotels
