“I plan to go back there someday.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2011

This hotel is not just historically beautiful, it is maintained with ultimate care. You can tell, whoever runs the Raj Palace takes pride in every detail. Nothing is amiss.
It was always serene in the lawn where we could sit with a drink or cuppa for some quiet time, or evening entertainment with the local puppeteer.
Service across the board was flawless. The food was excellent, always tuned to our specific taste...not spicy. The concierge always ready with useful tips and advice about our stay in Jaipur. The beds were super comfy, the linens fresh without smelling of detergent or disinfectants; I've never slept as well in a hotel before, plenty of hot water for three showers, (two teenage girls and mother), the staff members always acknowledged us with a warm greeting.
If you aren't happy with the city, you can easily find things to do inside this palace, the museum, the books and pictures can keep you occupied. The front desk manager gave us a short tour of the place and showed us some historically significant relics. I believe one can request a full tour too, we just didn't have the opportunity.
In summary, if you want to spoil yourself, stay in a place that makes you feel like royalty, and get a taste of Rajasthani hospitality, this is your place.
It was worth the money!

We had booked 3 rooms, had to cancel 1 due to medical emergency, & were charged for all 3 rooms. The 2 remaining rooms - 1 had no hot water during the entire stay , (after many service calls to fix the problem, why they didn't move us to the 3rd room we were paying for was a puzzle). The other room we tried Internet usage which we paid for, but didn't work, requested assistance - no one showed up. We were told the bottled water in the room was complementary but they billed us for it. On check out, we asked to speak to the Manager, and wanted our bill adjusted - removing the internet charges, charges for water, and compensation for no hot water in one of the rooms. Manager was hostile and would not even discuss the situation. Written complaints went no where, in fact we were told there was no problems because they didn't have a record of any problems. Definitely won't be going there again! Save your money, it's not worth it. It was the most expensive hotel we stayed at during our tour of India, and was the most disappointing and had the poorest service.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a fantastic experience. Our huge room had it's own hall, dining area and dressing room and two separate windows looked out onto a beautiful courtyard. The bathroom had a great rolltop bath and luxurious toiletries were supplied. The turn down service and laundry were done very efficiently. We couldn't have wanted for any more.

The hotel is a living piece of history renovated up to a very high standard. This is one up from 5 * purely for it’s character and style. Lovely swimming pool, croquet lawn and traditional evening entertainment.

The restaurant served fantastic food, and we were even advised to order less when we started over-ordering in the excitement.

The staff were very attentive and eager to please.

Many thanks to Ankur and her team for a very special and truly memorable stay.

My advice is treat yourself….this is one hotel you will always remember.

I stayed at the Raj Palace for two nights with my father.
The Hotel is just awsome, though the most palace-like rooms are not open to all hotel guests since they are converted into the suites.

-The Hotel is very calm and tranquil which is good.
-Service is extremely friendly and helpful and absolutely willing to make the stay a good one (with the usual expectance of tipping).
-Hotel is very clean and perfectly maintained (definately like western standard).
-Food (Restaurant) is very good, I can absolutely recommend it!

CON:
as soon as you order/buy something at this hotel it is very expensive (particularly in comparison to other 5***** Hotels in e.g. Delhi!).
Breakfast is just average (Rs 1100/Person!)

On arrival our room was not properly cleaned (lot of hair in room and bathroom) but after informing the staff it was immediately and properly cleaned.

Conclusion:
Great stay, wonderful palace, good food, nice staff - but bring enough extra money (on top of your roomrate) to enjoy all this!

We stayed in the hotel during our Radjasthan trip. I wasn¨t sure about the hotel, but it turns to be one of the best hotels we stayed in Radjasthan (2 other: Umaid Bhawan in Jodhpur and Leela Kempinski in Udaipur). Very cosy and stylish place. It is real palace with it¨s own history and dignity. You can see it from all the small lovely detailes in the interior and exterior. Very kind and helpful personnel.

There is 2 restaurants in the hotel: one is outside Kebab shop. I can¨t comment it at all, thus it was +3C ouside and we had the dinner at the Swapna Mahal restaurant inside with Indian cuisine. The food was perfect.

We really enoyed our stay; the hotel was stunning, great food and exceptional service. We stayed for New Year's Eve attending the Gala dinner which was absolutely amazing; with dancing & great fireworks - a wonderful way to see in the New Year.

The hotel is beautiful...it is a palace and has the 'wow' factor. ........but make sure you are not put into Room 107. The issue is that the wall between your room and room 108 is made of particle board (thin sheet of wood) and in room 108 the TV is mounted on this wood. So in room 107 you can hear the TV from room 108 very clearly.....not just muffled, but every word of commentary, so your sleeping is determined by the people controlling the remote in room 108.
And what really upset me about this is that when I complained to the front desk they knew this was an issue and told me 'they usually only use this room as a joint room with room 108 because of this issue'.
Yes they moved us, but they shouldnt have put us in this room in the first place. Not what you'd expect in what was otherwise a 5-star hotel! The room experience is quintessential to any hotel stay, and this hotel misses this point.

Dear Sir,
We would like to thank you for highlighting the sound proofing problem with this room as this was a part of the interconnecting suite room and hence we got the complaint for the first time.
We have already closed this door with a brick wall and hence the sound problem has been completely resolved now.
We would like to thank you for highlighting this problem.
